My family has used this brand since childhood. It is meant to be a cooking version and not as a condiment so the reviewer from the US site who gave it a low review was using it improperly. They should've purchased the light version which is a condiment. Regardless of who makes the soy sauce. 

The only way to tell if a soy sauce is good or not is to shake the bottle. The sauce should coat the sides of the bottle and take it's time to flow back down. If the sauce runs down as quickly as it went up, then it's a condiment than a sauce. 

Pearl River bridge brand was used by my mum since she left Hong Kong in the 60's and when it made its way to the North American markets she continued to use it. Now decades later I still use and rely on this brand. Sure there are tonnes of other brands, but none coat the sides of the bottle like this one does. There are even others which claim to be premium or Cadillac versions but unless they coat the sides, they're just a cheap knock-off.

A taste of back home.

This dark soy is pretty good if you are into orieltal cuisine this is the best wal mart has to offer there is more stuff out there but I know is hard to find a asian markert in some of the towns so this can work ....

It added that smokey flavor to my Lomein sauce I use.  The price is great and they shipped it to my local store.  In fact the shipping was probably more costly than the $2.15 a bottle I paid for.

The best

Interesting and enjoyable flavor.  Low price!  But huge sodium overdose, over 1200mg per teaspoon where standard soy sauce is around 800+ and low sodium is around 600-650.  And I just about choked on the massive sodium when it hit my throat.  I don't think the interesting flavor is worth the sodium overdose, there are other products that use mushroom to make an asian style sauce.  We bought one on walmart.com that is a huge bottle of mushroom-based oyster sauce that is really good and can be used for diverse foods.  We'll stick with that one.

I give China "Pearl River" mushroom  2 star because I'm compare/ contrast it to Thailand "Healthy Boy."  "Pearl River"  is typical soy sauce.  Thin , way salty  with hint of mushroom flavor. Thai "Healthy Boy" is thicker like a syrupy glaze and much stronger mushroom flavor and much less salty. Excellent drizzled over about anything from steamed broccoli to steak.  I used to visit Thailand a lot and bring several bottles back in luggage.  Bummer I'm out of stock.   I'll search the nearest  Asian markets for it. Too expensive buying online.  Try it if you can find it.
