I ordered this in both green and red and gifted the green one to my neighbor for her birthday. These both work great since we have a lot of squirrels here!! This morning one finally made it to the feeder but when he landed at the front door it closed. He tried shaking or rocking the feeder and kept looking in the window appearing to confirm there was food in there. The cardinals would land and feed when he was on the roof but every time he got down there the the door closed. Took about 30 min but he finally gave up.

We finally opted to put money into a decent bird feeder, rather than into feeding squirrels. This feeder works just as advertised, and we couldn't be more pleased (the squirrels don't agree).  For the first time ever, we had a squirrel come up to our slider door, peer in, and tap the glass with his front claws... no exaggeration! It had been cut off from the bird seed and came begging. Now it's had to resort to working on the thousands of acorns still on our lawn.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He used to enjoy watching birds feed in our yard, but the squirrels have destroyed his previous bird feeders. This one fits the bill! We have not seen one squirrel getting into this one and the birds really like it once they figured out it was there and how to access it. We are well pleased.

Great purchase!

The day after I put my feeder on the pole, I looked outside and saw it laying on the ground. The Squirrels knocked it off the feeder pole. They didn't get any treats for their efforts. The hanger isn't strong enough to keep it from bending over where the squirrels can get to it

I ordered a 10' straight pole that will mount on the bottom of my feeder. It will be 8' high and the squirrels can't get to it. The aping loaded perch works to knock the varmints off it was the hanger I had it on wasn't strong enough. I recommend the Heritage Farms Universal Pole Kit bird feeders birdhouse pole.

Get the Universal Pole Kit Heritage Farms Universal Pole Kit for bird feeders and birdhouses length 72".  You can mount most bird houses and feeders with this pole kit!. It comes with an adapter for flat and 3/4" threaded hole mounts, and comes in five sections.

STRONG AND STEADY

I bought this with the intention of feeding birds, not squirrels. The first day I saw 3 squirrels unsuccesfully attempting to obtain bird seed from the feeder. Try as they could, they were not able to and none of the food spilled out to the ground. This feeder is made of a sturdy steel construction. I would definitely recommend this bird feeder.

Squirrel proof

This is the only feeder I have ever tried that the squirrels cannot access.  It is very easy to refill, hang, and view the birds enjoying their food.  I had one previously & it lasted for years.  I would recommend it anyone who has trouble with lots of squirrels.

No squirrels!

Be sure that the roof is VERY securely attached.  I have several (counted five recently) that drain my other bird feeder on a regular basis; hence, the reason for this purchase.  As you can see from the attached photo (although not as clear as I'd like), the squirrels were able to remove the roof and just sat inside helping themselves.  :o(

Don't underestimate the squirrel psyche!

This feeder is very cute, and looks adorable in our yard. It is sturdy and stands up well, even with our giant squirrels climbing it. Lol! 

We have squirrel and bird feeders so we aren't overly concerned with the squirrels continuing to feast from it, but it is really funny to watch!

Very Cute, but Not Squirrel Free!

Attractive design, but

1. Cannot keep the roof on.
2. Metal plate obstructs seed tray.
3. Socket for pole needs to be much deeper.
