The Perky-Pet Squirrel Stumper Bird Feeder offers a variety of convenient features in one charming package. First, there’s the twist-lock lid, which not only removes for easy filling, but also locks in place so sneaky squirrels can’t easily open the feeder and steal seed from the top. This feeder also boasts a wire metal cage that creates a barrier around the seed reservoir making it harder for squirrels to gain access to the ports. Plus, the sturdy metal is designed to resist squirrel damage and chewing, as well as resist. In addition to its squirrel-resistant features, the Squirrel Stumper is also a favorite of birds. The whopping eight feeding ports spaced evenly around the feeder provide plenty of room for multiple birds to dine at the same time. And with the 3 lb capacity, you won’t have to worry about all those birds emptying your feeder too quickly during peak feeding times. When you do start to run low, the clear seed compartment makes it easy to monitor seed levels, so you know when it’s time to clean and refill.

Bird Feed

I love this and so the squirrels. I have been trying to get a photo of the squirrel hanging upside down eating from it. Great entertainment and quite frankly I am not bothered by the squirrel.

Squirrels pay no attention to a Squirrel Stumper.

walmart.com

Pretty and well made bird feeder. The one this replaces has been in the yard for years and the squirrels have eaten holes in the plastic tube. Little jerks. This is squirrel aggravating but not squirrel proof. The squirrels hang upside down on it and their weight tips seeds out the holes. But it's hot out right now and the squirrels don't seem to be into that much exercise ;) My favorite thing about this feeder is the top has a sort of latch that keeps the lid tightly attached

Makes the squirrels work for it

Quite happy with the purchase of 2, wild bird feeders! If any complaint would be, the quality of the lid which needs a little adjustment to open or close due to the close location of the hanger hardware. Looking forward to the birds finding their feeders come this fall/winter!

Where's the Birds?

My previous feeder that I bought from another store was quite similar in design with the outer wire cage and the inner plastic tube with multiple feed holes to reduce squirrel access to the food. When I compare this to the old one, the biggest thing I don't like is the way the cap is designed with notches that slip around the handle when you twist the cap. This is very cumbersome to take the cap off and on. The one I had previously the cap just untwisted off and on with no notches, very easy. The only other thing is the capacity is smaller than the old one, requiring more frequent filling.

Cap cumbersome to remove and put back on.

I dislike the small size of the metal squares...definitely need to be a bit larger to allow birds to stick their heads in and comfortably pull the head out because pulling the head out is opposite to the way their feathers are attached to their heads and necks and they could potentially get hung up on the smaller size openings and suffer injuries.

There was some damage to the top making it so it would not open. Had to use needle-nose pliers to bend it to make it where I could open it. It is difficult to open but at least it works. Birds seem to like it. Squirrels do not like it, which was my goal.

Work on the top to be able to fill!

Rusting already (the lid has unsealed metal edges and arrived scratched) less than a month from purchase. Also kind of finicky to open and close (not related to the squirrel-proof-ness). The only thing I haven't seen a squirrel break into, which is pretty amazing. But I am disappointed in the lid/rusting.

Rusting already, though it is squirrel proof.

I guess we must have very intelligent squirrels as they certainly were not stumped.

The squirrels quickly figured out how to remove the top. The side tabs were easily bent and useless to hold the top on. I just had to forcefully remove a squirrel who climbed in face down

Squirrel stuck inside!

purchased to replace another different squirrel resistant feeder that birds used for years. Old feeder needed refill or top off daily.
This feeder was filled 2 weeks ago and is still full.

It appears to provide birds inadequate access. Some small birds have explored then quickly left.

As best I can tell access to food is the problem.

Very disappointing.

Birds can't access food

Perky-Pet Squirrel Stumper Wild Bird Feeder front-facing metal tube feeder with clear seed reservoir, powder-coated wire cage and twist-lock lid; eight feeding ports, 3 lb (1.4 kg) capacity, suitable for attracting backyard songbirds near patios.
