Rosie and Lucy our white labs love their new door. The older door also from your company lasted over two lab lifetimes a bit over two decades. It finally wore out and we got the new one. It is well made and easy to install.

quality would have gotten a higher rating if the nylon screws that were included did not break easily. 

The cat and small dogs easily figured out how to use the door. The larger dog fits through the door just hasn't mastered it yet.

We love our dog door. I always buy the Freedom Aluminum extra large size. I do not like the newer covers that seal the door off, I liked the white metal ones much better. I'd love to purchase the white one if anyone knows where to buy one at?

I actually only needed a new flap and the piece that it screws to.  But i didnt figure i could get the top piece.  So i ordered the whole door. I put one in about 3 or 4 years ago. Best thing I've done in a while for my dogs. I have 3 great danes and a pitt.  Its much easier on them to be able to go on and out as they need.  The first flap lasted abiut 2 years. Till my pup decided to play tug of war with it.

Best investment I've made for my dogs

I purchased this door to replace a Petsafe dog door that I purchased 18 years ago and moved from it's origianal home in Virginia to our current home in California. It held up well but eventually replacing the flap just wasn't enough so I replaced the door.

Held up with 3 Dobermans over 18 years

Had to replace my original door which was a PetSafe w/a new one. The hole needed to be trimmed a little larger to fit but that is not the issue I'm having. The flap does not attach to the magnet very well & does blow open w/strong winds.  It sometimes stays open depending on which direction the dog comes in or out. Not happy about that which allows hot/cold air in if not there to fix it. Not sure how to make it attach better.

I'm a general contractor. As part of my client's kitchen remodel, they requested a second dog door be installed on their back door so that their German Shepard could access the back yard whenever she wanted. Upon receiving the door, I opened the package and found clear install instructions and a solidly built door. Just a good design and good material overall. Prepping for install was quite easy. Basically make your measurements and cut a hole in the door. You then position the two sides of the dog door frame into the cut open space and secure it with screws and threaded anchors. Here's the problem. The screws provided by PetSafe are nylon. Nylon screws have their place and proper applications but this is not one of them. Your average homeowner will have a metal door. Getting everything lined up perfectly so that you can screw the frames together using the nylon screws is next to impossible. I broke all of the nylon screws...no matter how gently I screwed them in. This prompted me to head to the nearest hardware store to get replacement screws. This time, however, I got steel machine screws. I used those then to tighten the frames to the door and I cut off and ground down the excess ends of each screw. In short the product itself is great. The hardware used to attach them, however, leaves a lot to be desired. Don't waste your time and attempt to use the nylon screws. Just upgrade to steel right away. I will change my review to 5 stars once PetSafe upgrades it's hardware.

Though this product does function, they include Plastic screws to assemble this product. Plastic!!! If you purchase this, you will need to get metal screw replacements in order to make this work. 3 of the 4 screws snapped when trying to affix the door. What a waste.

I think this would work with most dogs, but my two German Shepherds tore off the plastic flap within 24 hours.  I had to go to the hardware store, buy some heavy duty hinges, drill holes through the metal door, cut out a thick plywood door to fit the opening, and attach it with the plastic flap screwed into the wood to help with the seal and cushioning.

Not for a smart, aggressive chewer.
