Bought it, couple days ago and no problem with it's design and seems to work really great. My boy drinks a lot of water and this helps him receive good water through out the hot day!

I have 6 cats (used to be 7) and have 7 1 gallon waterers throughout the house.  1 in the living room, 3 at their food station and 2 in the basement and 1 in my bedroom.  They work like a charm.  My gang adjusted to having them within the first day.  I used to have the plug in bubbling water fountains but was always limited to location due to electrical outlet locations.  Also with the closed top, the water stays cleaner (one of my guys used to love to drop food into the bubbler, resulting in my having to clean them every other day (and having to use a toothpick to clean out mushy food from the filter intake area so the motor could work properly.)

Lifesaver

I bought this for my cat and small dog to share.  They each had their own water bowls and were continually spilling and splattering water on the food mats and tile floors. Cat is finicky and demanded fresh water several times daily.  Dog seemed to play in water, more than drink the water.  Saw this product at a store and decided to buy.  Love that I refill every couple of days as needed and there are NO MORE watery messes on my tile floors. And I'm not having to wash their food mats often.  Great product and so glad I found this! Very easy to set up and refill.

I got this item as a gift. The bottle is sturdy, the base plentiful. (not sure if newer models changed to a lower quality bottle) Points that need addressing: The Charcoal filter is so compactly wrapped in plastic that it's hard to know it should be peeled off. Suggest you have a sticker that says "remove first". My first assembly failed due to that tight plastic cover and it's no wonder others have complained that it didn't flow water. The designs, cute looking lid is useless. Instead suggest the lid is made into a functional opening for ease of cleaning the inside of the bottle. Also, the rim where the bottle sits upon is almost impossible to clean. It holds dirt and green mold spore that we cannot get clean with it's current design.

Great, except a couple of points to consider.

Water does not flow out like it should.  Worked well for first 2 weeks and now I have to push on it to get water to come out.

Very disappoint

Bought this product last week.  Didn't come with any instructions or filter (as mentioned in the description in this website.  The water flowed out of the jar completely, overflowing the bowl and running on the floor.  Expensive for something that doesn't work.

Don't Bother

I wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing. The design is horrible. When you place the tank into the bowl, the water feed is less than 1/4"-1/2" from the bottom of the bowl, so when you first insert the tank you get water into the bowl as gravity has been allowed the space and air to do its job, but as the animals deplete the first initial fill, there is not adequate space for the water feature to work. 
And to address the plastic around the filter, this was removed as well as the filter all together.

Does not work

I bought this about a month ago and was disappointed at the minimal amount of water it allowed into the bowl. Now its at the point where its not allowing any water to flow due to the fill cap bottoming out on the bowl. Very disappointed

Poor design

cap to the jar sits basically on the bottom of dish & doesn't allow water to flow . Most of the time the bowl is dry . WE have drilled extra holes ,nothing has worked. So now i have to make sure water is in the bowl every day ...

Where is the Water ?

I bought this a year ago, and I just replaced it after pushing on the sides to fill the bowl for months. The water would only trickle down to lightly fill the base (hardly enough to lap up), and on multiple occasions it was bare dry. I ended up poking a hole in the top, but it of course ended with water flowing out of the bowl. Poor design. Removing the filter did not help.
