These shields help keep my sore nipples from running up against clothing in the first couple of weeks breastfeeding my newborn - they also were amazing at enduring my toddler didn't hurt my super sensitive breast during that time too when she gave me big hugs or requested to be held :)

A must have for new moms

Bought this because nipples were painful when rubbing on bra when breastfeeding. It is useful to collect ejected milk as well and not have to use thousands of pads. They give your breasts an 80 cone bra shape but if it is between pain or an outdated look, I know what I would choose.

Perfect for sore nipples

Keeps milk leaks while breastfeeding! Can pick up almost 1 oz in one go. I love it and recommend it! - Oh, my God.

Very practical! - Oh, my God.

These were great at preventing soreness however they are a bit bulky. They are not really an option for wearing out in public but still very helpful around the house which is where you spend most of your time early after giving birth and getting into breastfeeding anyways.

Bulky but helpful!

These helped me collect leaking breast milk while feeding my baby- breast milk That would otherwise would have been wasted as leakage onto clothes / anywhere. I can collect at least 1-2 oz before having to open it to empty out. product will leak if you wear them the wrong way or wrong angle. Make sure to wear them tightly, and the edges are not too loose. It starts to leak if it gets too full. Amazing that it frees a hand from holding a bottle as you leak. Also wears discreetly and is inexpensive. 4 stars as it does leak- sometimes by position or the seal is wonky sometimes. Reboil if milk residue does not come out with just dish soap.

Philips Breast Milk collecting Shells

Many ladies commented that you cannot wear these cups outside since they show, but I did not have that issue since my nursing bra has thick pads. What I don't like is my skin gets itchy after wearing them for a few hours. Nevertheless these cups are helpful when my nipples are super sore.

Looks OK but a bit uncomfortable

The shells to ventilate the nipples personally I never used. The one to get the milk, his practice for me who always lost 1 ounce of milk per drink. The downside in my opinion is that you have to wear them for a maximum of 40 minutes to prevent the milk from being contaminated, so with each drink you have to wash and sterilize the shells.. its a little more tiring!

I bought these shells in the hope of being able to wear them for a prolonged period of time whilst my nipples healed. However, on reading the instructions it is recommended not to wear them for more than 40 minutes at a time because they may cause pressure on the milk ducts. Pretty useless product for day to day nipple protection if you can only wear them for 40 minutes. Indeed, after ignoring the instructions and wearing them for around 4 hours at night, my breasts did feel softer than usual - perhaps because the pressure had imitated an engorged breast? Only worn them the one night, not used since.

I used these ten years ago with my last child, and they were great. Now however they leak every time I use them, I have a lot of milk and these should be a godsend as they were last time but I am disappointed that no matter how much I try to solve it, they leak and I end up getting completely redressed every time I use them

In theory- great

Too much pressure, stimulates the breast and it flows constantly, if the nipple is short the milk is not harvested by the shell and flows along the body, too bulky for the bra. Recommends only to stimulate the breast.
