This thing is amazing.  It was a little tricky to set up but that may have just been a “me” issue.  Once I got it connected, it provided me a light show like you wouldn't believe.  I get totally engrossed in movies and tv shows now.  Highly recommend.  Yes, it's a bit pricey and not the only component you'll need but it's well worth the price.

Very happy with the functionality of the HDMI Switch.  It's a bummer that it doesn't come with a remote although it is fairly easy to program other IR motes to control functions. My Biggest concern is that it does NOT sense with the TV is turned off.  The Sync will initially shut off but then turn itself back on if the input is detected....  this is a significant issue for Cable and Satellite boxes that turn on for DVRs....  I've walked in numberous times to my sound fully engaged in the surround sound system.  And I was even woken up once...  the two short term fixes is to mute the sound system... or chang ethe input to a game system or unassigned port...  but that is user friendly or intiutive...  neither is the need to use the App to contorl everything until you program a remote.... and even then the app is needed for certain controls.

performance is great... but not worth the price

Sync box works as advertised. Setup was hassle free but I have not fully grasped the implications of allowing remote access so I disabled that. Here I must say that my equipment is up to date so many of the hicks may have been solved by that. My only issue is the Panasonic DVD player. Here I use an HDMI upgrade cable (converts composite video) and because this cable is independently powered it keeps the box powered on even though the activity is terminated.
In all the experience is amazing I think the lights keep me awake to view content that normally puts me nite nite.

A solution to boring video content.

Kinda dumb, box works as advertised however you need to use an app every time you want to start the sync. Additionally it of course can only handle devices which are routed through it and it does downgrade the quality of 4k/hdr10 with my ps5 at least. With the app now working with Spotify and Samsung tvs having it built in it's not worth the price anymore

Setup of the Hue box was pretty simple and straight forward; however, its size and later integration were a bit problematic. For the former, you'll want to plan ahead, particularly if you're using a minimal or small entertainment setup as the form factor. While thin, is a bit wide and can become a bit deep when you add HDMI cables out the back, so think through your cable management and make sure you give yourself enough room - you may have to buy new cables as I did! For the latter, the actual HomeKit integration could use a lot of love. The homebridge integration, while fantastic, can be a bit overwhelming for a novice user - timing the integration handoff can be quite frustrating - and the outcome as well is a bit overwhelming. But if contrast to the native integration which is very basic Siri integration, its not really enough. Further, if you're doing any kind of network isolation, and working across VLANs, the natives integration isn't very reliable - in fact, I never got it to work within Shortcut. Ideally, the HomeKit integration would make it easy to switch between HDMI inputs, turn off/on the sync as well as pick your scene. This is all available on homebridge, but far from a clean experience.
Lastly, the tech on this is just a bit old compared to the latest HDMI standard as well as higher resolutions on the horizon, and although the 'compatibility mode' makes things work, its a bit finicky and has quite a bit of delay when switching between formats - such as when you go form Dolby Vision back to SDR when leaving a movie.
Although there's a lot of complaining, once its working, its pretty magnificent with both AppleTV as well as Xbox, and I definitely do not regrets the purchase.

Neat integration though a bit behind the curve

I like the functionality that the sync box gives, and it is really quite cool. The issue that I have with the box is that randomly the television video feed simply dies. Each time this happens, it is the sync box that has to be rebooted to get the video back. The interesting thing is that it doesn't matter if the sync box is actively syncing or not - it just randomly dies. I also wish there was a unified app to control all Hue devices, but that is a wishlist item.

I love the capability, however It needs to come with a remote, or a input switch on the device. I should not need to use my phone to control every function.

Needs to do more for the price.

The Sync Box is one of the coolest things I have ever bought.... when it works. It is always "trying to connect" to the sync box. The LED strip behind my TV works always, and connects, I can make it whatever color I want at any time. When I try to connect to the "sync" so that it syncs the lights up with whatever I am playing through my firestick, its hit or miss whether it is going to connect or not. Really frustrating when I spent a good $600-$700 just for a chance for it to work each night

Too many connection errors with no support :(

When it works it's really nice, but I constantly have problems with the sync to start. I think it may have something to do with the signal, but what concerns me is that it seems random when it works or doesn't. Is a 2-star not a little harsh then - you may ask. No, because most of the time it doesn't work and leads to frustration with restarts, resets, etc.
