These shavers are best for side burn trim

For most of my life I have used a safety razor because I didn't have a good experience with electric razors when I was a young man. I never seemed to get a good shave and the razor burn was uncomfortable. I purchased the Philips 5000 after much deliberation and reading of product reviews of both the Philips, and competitors products. I am certain that I made the right choice. I am completely satisfied with my Philips 5000. It has great battery life and delivers a smooth shave without any irritation.

I should have done this sooner.

i have used philps shavers for a loing time, and so far this model is the best, i get a real clean shave as always but this shaver feels more comfortable in your hand, this model i bought was a philips refurbished one which still included a full warranty.i have bought refurbished shavers before and i highly recommend them,how can you go wrong with the same warranty as a new one, they always look new to me anyway.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this shaver because I couldn't find replacement heads for my old Norelco Shaver. I am pleased with the closeness of the shave and how quickly I can achieve that close shave. I would definitely recommend it.

Fast close shaves

Superb smooth shave regardless of stubble growth. Easy to hold and recharging stand is a very useful extra.
Do not like the extended area around the cutting heads as they inhibit getting close to stubble immediately under the nose. (unlike previous Phillips shavers) Also the on?off button position can irritate as it is too easy for the thumb to touch it whilst shaving and switch it off. Something I did not like with previous 6000.

A great shave every time

A good smooth shave, quiet and looks stylish.
In six weeks it has needed recharging just two times which is good. 
On an earlier 5000 model the flip-out cover used to fall off when I lightly tapped the shaver to clean it. This model has made the joint more secure.
My wishlist:
I would prefer it to have a more depressed power button. When shaving I have repeatedly pressed the power off. The switch is in the middle of the grip area. Perhaps moved upwards, or more depressed, would be better for me.
Is there any reason why it could not have a USB-C socket for charging? Rather than the 2-prong shaver adaptor that does not fit anything else.

Shaver S5887/10 review

Overall a good product. The main issue I have is being able to manage the area under the nose. With the circular blades on a triangle head, it's difficult to get close to the nostrils.
Also, the trimmer that vibrates back and forth (ie. sideburn, not the separate attachment) does not work great. Otherwise, quite satisfied.

Overall a good product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall it's not quite as good.  I've had Norelco  shavers for many years and got this replacement because my old unit's battery was going bad.  (1)  New unit does not live up to Philip's claim for up to 1 hour of battery use.  I charged it for well over 24 hours before first use.  It ran down to zero in 35-40 minutes.  I just timed it again and it showed one lighted bar (status of charge) after 28-30 minutes.  This is now my recharging point.  (2)  The redesigned external surfaces [star wars/stealth] are unnecessary and make it slightly less ergonomic.  The relocated built-in trimmer is now fairly cumbersome to use.  (3) Loss of the nose trimmer is a detractor.  I had to buy one in addition to the shaver.   dww

A step down from previous Norelco shaver

This shaver gives a very close shave - and very quickly too, so I am VERY pleased with it. My only complaint is that the shaving heads are closer together than earlier models, which makes it slightly difficult when shaving along the edge of the chin. However, it is still an excellent shaver and I strongly recommend it.

Gives a very close shave very quickly

Not very precise. Cause neck rash for me too. Not as good as the Braun electric 3000 series shaver I swapped this for. Also feels cheap but considerably expensive.

Avoid this shaver.
