Coming from blade, to electric after 45 years of shaving I found the initial experience a little sore and time consuming. After finding my footing and relaxing my approach to the task I found that the machine was very capable of a perfect shave in under 5 minutes. Having had to shave twice a day for most of my adult life this ha s saved time and is as good as a single blade shave

It's my third or fourth razor. I change every 10 years. I am very impressed with the evolution of the product. It is stable, lighter, rinses easily, almost without noise and very effective on the beard of a day as of three days. The battery charge easily lasts 2 to 3 weeks. I highly recommend it.

Excellent shaving

I've had a variety of Philips shavers over the years, but this model is the best one yet! It gives a great close shave and has the features I was looking for. If you want something that holds a charge for a long period of time, with basic features and a great shave, then I recommend purchasing this model.

Better than expected!

For most of my life I have used a safety razor because I didn't have a good experience with electric razors when I was a young man. I never seemed to get a good shave and the razor burn was uncomfortable. I purchased the Philips 5000 after much deliberation and reading of product reviews of both the Philips, and competitors products. I am certain that I made the right choice. I am completely satisfied with my Philips 5000. It has great battery life and delivers a smooth shave without any irritation.

I should have done this sooner.

Superb smooth shave regardless of stubble growth. Easy to hold and recharging stand is a very useful extra.
Do not like the extended area around the cutting heads as they inhibit getting close to stubble immediately under the nose. (unlike previous Phillips shavers) Also the on?off button position can irritate as it is too easy for the thumb to touch it whilst shaving and switch it off. Something I did not like with previous 6000.

A great shave every time

i have used philps shavers for a loing time, and so far this model is the best, i get a real clean shave as always but this shaver feels more comfortable in your hand, this model i bought was a philips refurbished one which still included a full warranty.i have bought refurbished shavers before and i highly recommend them,how can you go wrong with the same warranty as a new one, they always look new to me anyway.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall it's not quite as good.  I've had Norelco  shavers for many years and got this replacement because my old unit's battery was going bad.  (1)  New unit does not live up to Philip's claim for up to 1 hour of battery use.  I charged it for well over 24 hours before first use.  It ran down to zero in 35-40 minutes.  I just timed it again and it showed one lighted bar (status of charge) after 28-30 minutes.  This is now my recharging point.  (2)  The redesigned external surfaces [star wars/stealth] are unnecessary and make it slightly less ergonomic.  The relocated built-in trimmer is now fairly cumbersome to use.  (3) Loss of the nose trimmer is a detractor.  I had to buy one in addition to the shaver.   dww

A step down from previous Norelco shaver

I would have given it 5 stars apart from one feature. The power socket should be a standard USB C so that it can be charged from the same charger used for laptops and phones without hunting for the right cable and carrying a non standard cable when traveling. 
Otherwise an excellent razor. I use it daily.

Needs USB C charge port.

This razor shaves very well and has a long-lasting battery. It also has an attachment for dealing with longer hairs which my previous one didn't have. The slight negative I have about it is that with its five sided surrounds of the rotating cutters it feels clumsier and makes it difficult to access narrow spaces. The surrounds on my previous razor were rounded.

Powerful with a good battery

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The shaver itself is wonderful, but whomever thought that Philips could get away without supplying a charge and a simple case had their head completely up their backside.  It's like supplying a car without a battery, and because of this I will never buy another Phillips product again.

No charger and no case.  Buy a different shaver

Not very precise. Cause neck rash for me too. Not as good as the Braun electric 3000 series shaver I swapped this for. Also feels cheap but considerably expensive.

Avoid this shaver.
