These little scrubbies (if you can find them) are excellent, especially if you have Teflon pots and pans, or cookware that is advertised as easy to clean. Steel wool pads are great for tough jobs, but they could scratch any coated cookware, whereas the cleaning sponges will not.

If a substance like dried milk is on the counter, you can presoak it by squeezing water out of the sponge, flip the pad over to the scrubbie, remove the dried substance that is challenging you, then wipe the loosened food with the sponge again. 

Very handy. A pack comes with about 10 in them, and proves to be economical, and will last you even if you use them every day. I have found that on stainless steel pots or cast iron frypans etc. (uncoated); it takes more elbow grease.

You will likely find that food or drink that has dried and hardened, or that has been left out for hours, or overnight in a pot or pan may be challenging to clean with the sponge pad. Try soaking the hardened food or drink in hot water and a tad of soap to soften. Let sit to soften. It may be that you will have to resort to a steel wool pad.
