this is a very reliable pit and so easy to use. I've cooked just about everything and it's been cooked perfectly and with lots of taste, moisture and crispy. I now have had my family ask for smoked turkey for Thanksgiving for the last 3 years. I cook the turkey plus sides in this smoke. I love it.

This smoker is amazing!  I i so far grilled burgers, smoke ribs and smoked wings. Everything came out perfect.  Much easier to control the heat unlike my charcoal smoker. The only thing on this is the thermometer on the lid is way off from the digital guage.  I just go with the digital guage and a meat thermometer and your golden.  Very easy to clean. My only issue is it doesnt come with a side self but one can be purchased.

Perfect for my needs, wish i got it sooner

Within the first two weeks of owning this grill, I made chicken breasts, full 14.5 pound brisket, two racks of baby backs, a brick of cream cheese, and a whole 18 pound turkey. Everything came out great with no headache whatsoever!!

Great little grill

We have the larger one for home but we bought this for the lake. Its fantastic. Once you have food smoked on these grills you wont go back to anything else.

Upgraded from a wood chip to this pellet smoker. Love how easy everything is! pour the pellets in. Turn it on, let it start smoking, put the meat on, and let it go!

Best upgrade!

This was a Christmas Eve gift. The grill seems great but it was missing the grates so the recipient was unable to use it. We contacted PitBoss but the recipient is still waiting for the grates. Hard to give 5 stars when the grill is unusable.

Incomplete

When I first used this, it was great. I smoked a brisket and it came out delicious.  Ever since that time, the pit boss can not keep running for more than 4 to 5 hours without putting its own fire out. The temperature fluctuates too much and it smothers itself out. I clean the pit boss after every use but still happens.  Still works great for anything under 4 to 5 hours. Not sure why the temp fluctuates so much but I may now have to go for a different brand smoker.

Bad temperature regulation

So far using it as a smoker has been very disappointing.   It does not hold a steady temperature and today it overfilled the pellet cup and lost temperature.   I had to take all of the meat out, disassemble everything, clean out the area where the igniter is, and restart it.  I was hoping for fall off the bone ribs and was very unhappy with how it performed.

Not vert happy so far

I would like to start this review out by letting everyone know this is a serious matter I experienced and  They removed the Review I left yesterday. So I will keep writing these reviews so everyone understands the danger of what can happen. Please read. I am a very experienced cook when it comes to grills. I have cooked on the KCBS competition tour for about 6 years now and have been cooking on grills for around 20 years. I do not cook at every competition But have cooked in a ton. I have this pit boss pellet grill and 2 other pellet grills which are competitors of pit boss ( I have never had any issues with the other grills) . I purchased this grill because of the how small it was yet had a ton a cooking space. I choose to use this grill for my comp brisket. I did between 8 and 10 test runs with this grill before I used it in a competition. I had issues with it holding temp , It was  -30 degrees every time I used it. It also would loose flame and at that point loose heat and going out. I spoke to customer service ( which was good) And we adjusted the P settings and it seemed to work ok. Needless to say it let me down at a very big competition. The grill lost flame and when I went to start it back up it created a combustion flame which blew up and the grill caught on fire. I lost the $200 wagyu brisket but was able to get the flame out quickly. I called customer service the following business day, I explained to them I have a good back ground with pellet grills and own 3 including there's and thought that there were more issues than just the circuit board. She proceeded to tell me i need to change parts and asked me to try it again . It seemed to work until I ran it longer than an hour. I was cooking a boston butt for a dinner and the grill did the same thing on my back porch and went out. again I took the proper steps in turning the grill off and re-starting it. It again blew up and caught fire ON MY BACK PORCH. It was a large fire and i could not get it out quickly. in the process it completely burnt my arm. It ruined the lid and thermometer. It actually warped the inner heat deflector. I was very upset at this point and called back in. They sent me all new parts and a new controller board and told me to try that. I again told them it I thought it was something else. BUT  what do i know. I replaced the parts and was told to try it again. This was the last straw. The same issue happened but this time when the grill blew up and caught fire My 3 year old was walking by and the flame nearly got to his head. It was a horrific experience to have seen. My wife actually got video of it after it caught fire for the 3rd time. I just wanted everyone to understand the danger of this grill. Hopefully pit boss will not remove this review to let there customers understand what can happen and also show there customer support team that parts do not always fix things.

does not work right. fire and heat keeps cutting off several times during each use. temperatures fluctuate way too much in very broad spectrums. had a short and did not work at all, husband has to reconnect wires. it has to have pellets shop vacuumed out before every use. some people said to replace the computer, but im not investing another penny into ANY pit boss products.
