During Thanksgiving, I was trying to smoke our turkey for the very first time.  The “PitBoss App” was not acting correctly, so it took a little longer to get the temperature right and make sure it maintained correctly to cook the turkey correctly.  Everything worked perfectly and I was sent an email a few days later from PitBoss regarding the error of having technical issues during cooking on Thanksgiving day.  I was surprised that they even monitored that, let alone apologized for the issues that had happened.  When they stated that they wanted to make it up and offer a bag of Apple Blend pellets , I jumped on the offer.  I'm extremely pleased on how the PitBoss operates and love the Bag of Apple Blend pellets.  I thank the PitBoss team for what they sent.  And thank them for making a quality grill that was worth the money my wife spent for a Birthday Present.  This has been the “Best Grill” I've ever had.  Thank you again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this! Smoked chicken and the apple blend wood pellets enhanced the flavor just nicely. It gave it a mild, fruity flavor that gave it a subtle sweetness. It didn't give an overpowering layer of smoke flavor. Honestly will be our new go to brand!

We decided to do a turkey this year for our crew for Christmas. Received the Apple pellets from pit boss as a compliment to issues they had during Thanksgiving outages. Really appreciate their willingness to take ownership and make it right. Love the Apple pellets. Very mild and suited poultry very well. Will order again.

Christmas Eve turkey with Apple blend pellets

I've been extremely impressed with the Apple Blend Hardwood Pellets from Pit Boss. These pellets deliver a clean, mildly sweet apple smoke that enhances food without overpowering it—perfect for pork, chicken, turkey, and even vegetables.

The pellet quality is excellent: consistent size, very low dust in the bag, and reliable feeding through the auger. They burn evenly, produce great smoke, and maintain steady temperatures throughout long cooks. I also noticed minimal ash buildup compared to other brands, which makes cleanup much easier.

What really stands out is how well the apple blend balances flavor—subtle enough for lighter meats but still adds a noticeable depth that elevates the final result. Whether I'm doing ribs, pork shoulder, or smoked chicken thighs, the results are consistently delicious.

These Apple Blend pellets are a win. Great smoke, great burn, and no weird aftertaste. My smoker held temp perfectly and the flavor on my chicken and pork was unreal—just the right amount of sweet. If you're on the fence, grab them. You won't regret it

We got these pellets after the Thanksgiving problem with the app. Thanks Pit Boss for stepping up! That kind of responsibility when things bad happen is refreshing. The pellets are great. Clean, even burning and very tasty!

Pellets give great smoke and flavor…used for smoking 2  15 pound turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas, the family loved it….no leftover turkey here!

Enjoyed

Some pellets were too long and kept clogging the auger on my vertical pit boss. Looking at the pellets you can see a larger variety of sizes with several being longer than an 1.5 inches. Never had this issue before and never seen such large peices.

Inconsistent Pellet Size

Unfortunately I have not had time to get to know the Pit Boss Apple Blend Hardwood Pellets as I have not yet received them. FedEx says they made it to the Memphis, TN facility on 12/13/25 then no other activity after that. Today is 1/2/2026. So I am unable to provide feedback at this time.
