Boasting an old world aesthetic, the Pleasant Hearth Amhearst Fireplace Glass Door Collection is a beautiful, hammered black, cabinet style, one-piece frame. When installed, the fireplace glass door enhances the appearance of your family’s indoor, wood-burning, traditional masonry fireplace hearth. All Pleasant Hearth Fireplace Glass Door sets are designed for masonry fireplaces only and are not compatible with prefabricated fireplaces – see our Sizing Guide for more details.<br>When it’s time to unwind from the day, this glass door set opens completely, providing a clear view of your burning fire. The smoked 3/16-in tempered glass doors must stay open while the fire is burning, and the built-in mesh firescreen panels act as a barrier to help contain embers. Both the glass doors and mesh panels have easy-catch magnets to help keep them closed.<br>The glass doors can help you save energy year-round – when closed, they prevent AC and heat loss through the chimney by up to 90%. The hidden damper knob at the bottom of the firescreen provides additional air flow to feed the fire for bigger, longer-lasting flames. Closed fireplace glass door sets also prevent cold chimney downdrafts from entering your home and keep pets and children out of fireplace soot.<br>These fireplace glass doors are surface mounted flat against the fire place opening, allowing the doors to open fully to provide an incredible view of your fire from anywhere in the room. I am very happy with the doors. Easy to install and looks wonderful. I went to a few fireplace stores to purchase doors and they were a lot more expensive, which made me concerned about ordering these doors from Walmart at such a great price. I was pleasantly surprised and glad that I did not pay 3 to 4 times more for other doors.

My fire place was configured differently than Pleasant Hearth so installation required some extra self tapping screws but it worked out fine. Great purchase.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the largest size doors and am very satisfied. I installed the doors without the riser bar and the viewing space of the fireplace doors perfectly matches my firebox. I was a bit nervous because my firebox opening was an the limit in width but, the doors are built to easily accommodate a range of sizes including and extra 1/4” beyond the sizing recommendation. I love how  simple it is to remove the wire doors if need be and I also love how the doors open all the way and fold out of view. The construction of the doors are engineered well and feels sturdy against my brick fireplace. Even the shipping box was perfectly arranged and protected. The customer service representative I spoke to on the phone was also very helpful in helping me pick the right size.

Easy to install great to look at

My fireplace looked like a standard one but since the interior walls were tapered and there was no lintel my handyman had to buy different brackets to get it installed.

It looks very nice!  So glad I didn't have to return it.

Very happy - I would purchase this again. It looks great, easy to assemble. I'm surprised at how much energy I was losing up the chimney as the glass doors really insulate from drafts.

Easy to install, fits well having the right size

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm very happy with the fireplace doors. Only hiccup was there was a bag of screws missing when it arrived. Customer support was very responsive and shipped me the screws within a week or so, so while I wish the screws were there in the first place, I do appreciate stellar customer support.

Product is excellent

As far as the doors themselves, I guess they are fine. They seem to function properly and the screen doors do as well. Quality is fairly low, but I kind of assumed that given the price compared to others from this maker and others on the web. Install however, was far more complicated than I felt it should be. I got it installed, but not without a good amount of creativity and extra supplies. I just wanted to make future buyers aware that the install could have you pulling your hair out.

I consider myself an above average home improvement person, having remodeled 3 homes ourselves and I do my own electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, crown molding, etc. There are few projects I don't have the tools or basic knowledge to tackle. That being said, the install directions (with the included supplies) would make you think the install will go smoothly and perhaps for some it might, but for me it became utterly frustrating. We have a 1959 house with a standard masonry fireplace; nothing special. The old fireplace doors were installed just fine with 4 of the pressure pins that you screw into the sides of the brick (similar to what the bottom attachments for this unit should be). The top of ours required the "alternate" install that they spoke of in the instructions. Not a big deal, but it did require some drilling with special bits and also different screws than the ones they provided. The ones they provide for the alternate install are pictured in the manual to be self tapping. The ones that I got were not, fortunately for me I had some extras from another project.

Now the top is attached firmly and on to the bottom attachments. The brackets that are provided do not, I repeat, do not fit properly. Because of the way they are bent (or not bent), when the finger screws are inserted and pressed against the masonry, they just pop out the brackets. I had to make several trips out to my vise to bend these properly and then do a completely different install after all was said and done anyway. Pleasant Hearth really needs to take a look at their design of these bottom brackets and figure out a better method for affixing it to the masonry. It might work better if the bracket was permanently affixed to the frame as opposed to the slip in method that they are currently using.

All in all a far more frustrating (and much longer) install than should have been necessary. Just be aware when you buy this that your savings in purchase price may be eaten up on the extra time required for install (or to pay someone to install it).
