Walmart's online queue system for purchasing TCG products, mainly Pokémon, is an absolute disaster. Calling it a queue is not just misleading, it's flat-out false advertising. A queue implies fairness, a line where people wait their turn. What Walmart actually has is a randomized lottery system with a "you might get lucky" mechanic that feels more like gambling than organized retail.

Case in point: I made a purchase, got what I wanted, and then just out of curiosity, refreshed the page and was allowed right back into the so-called “queue” and guess what? I could purchase again. Meanwhile, friends and other buyers who had been “waiting” in this supposed line from the start were still stuck in limbo, watching products go out of stock right before their eyes. How is that fair? Spoiler Alert, it's not.

Walmart's system doesn't prioritize time of entry, doesn't restrict repeat purchases in any meaningful way, and basically rewards anyone lucky enough to spam refreshes or slip through a server crack. It's chaotic, frustrating, and incredibly unfair to actual human customers.

And don't even get me started on your bot prevention, because there isn't any. Scalpers and automated bots run rampant during drops. Products are often gone within seconds, and the average customer has no real shot unless they're using scripts or browser extensions just to level the playing field. Walmart might slap on a “you're in a queue” message, but it's little more than a placebo, it doesn't work, and it doesn't stop abuse.

This system is broken. Until Walmart implements a real, first-come-first-served queue with actual purchase limits and real bot protections, it's hard to see why any collector or casual buyer should even bother trying. You're not in a line — you're buying a lottery ticket you didn't ask for.

Rating: 1/5 — And that one star is only because zero isn't an option.
