A little lacking for graphics if you care about that, and could REALLY use voice acting, but it's still a fun and fairly polished game. If you are buying this as a gift for someone who likes Pokémon they will definitely enjoy it. If you're buying it for yourself definitely look at a couple more reviews. Also be careful when ordering it online, I've seen people get the switch 1 version when ordering the switch 2 version

Solid game good as a gift

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Walmart site let me know that there was low inventory on the item I wanted, so I knew I had to order quickly.  I appreciated that info.

My 14 year old grandson says it is great loves his switch 2 and his new games. He actually worked and earned his money to buy the switch 2 so Grandma and I purchased the him the game for his birthday.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] New games are expensive hard to justify $69 for video games especially when other games for other consoles are typically released closer to the $59 mark.

So I got this and the new Switch 2 for my son for Christmas. He has told me that he does like it and it's worth it. I can only go by what he says as a teenager.

Christmas gift that pleases

This is a nice off mainline story game.
For what it's worth, it does give you a lot to do. Plus note, even if you got the Switch 2 version, you can still play it on your Gen 1 switches even the O-led. They never made it to be a Switch 2 game. Just that you're buying the Switch 2 upgrade when you buy it.

This game released in 2025 and has the graphical fidelity of a release from 2007. The Switch 2 is far more capable than what is on show here, and I would argue that the Switch 1 original version holds it back a little, but we've seen better looking games on Switch 1 than this game on Switch 2. While I appreciate that GameFreak has learned what motion vectors and modern anti-aliasing is, the DLSS in use is very sub-par. It doesn't help that buildings are completely flat boxes with a medium resolution texture unless they're important structures. Also some extra music tracks would have been appreciated. I've heard about 100 hours of the basic Lumiose City day theme and it's getting old.

Fun game, suffers from technical issues

This game is inferior to Legends Arceus, and tries a new battle gimmick thats more of a hassle than an improvement. I wasn't a big fan of the Pokedex for this game and everything seems so claustrophobic. With a bland story on top, only get this if you absolutely need new Pokemon, and if not, wait until Winds and Waves.

I mean, its Pokemon...

the game is good but it has hours and hours of very very non-challenging easy content so if that's your thing you can do it up then it's good
