LIKE:  This player produces the greatest music detail of any small portable (or of nearly any CD deck) I ever have heard, and I am rather particular about accuracy.  DISLIKE:  Unfortunately, like other Naxa products, this model does not work well on its batteries.  It has difficulty with tracking and disc completion, yet it sounds great for at least the first few songs.  LOVE:  There is a simple, effective solution.  Buy or order a "universal" AC adapter (700 mA or higher capability, very common and inexpensive), set it at 4.5 volts (the batteries produce only a total of 3.0 volts), and plug this portable into a house current.  YOU WILL ENJOY A MUCH GREATER EXPERIENCE, with no skipping, no stopping, only the potential for flawless sound!  Listen through a high-quality headphone set, attach some decent-to-good powered speakers (as I have done in my backyard), or play it through your home system.  The need to plug in loses a certain amount of portability, but the sound and dependability obtained will be well worth the extra purchase of an AC adapter,  LIKE:  Incidentally, the FM stereo radio works very well, also, powered by either the batteries or house current; it, too, produces remarkable sound, depending on the quality of the radio station.  FM tuning is blind, but it's easy to do.  JUST A NOTE:  There is no tone EQ of any kind on this player.  If you want that control, play it through a system with tone controls.  However, the pristine sound of this player does not necessarily require tonal adjustments.  Overall, this is a great machine, as long as you don't mind plugging it in for power.

PLUG IT IN (TO AC) AND ENJOY!

I use this unit exclusively for audiobooks while on the treadmill and it works beautifully.  It doesn't skip even with the thumping of 4mph incline walking.  I have dropped it about 3 times and while the door doesn't close as well as it did, it still works as new so it is pretty tough also.  I even find the earbuds, which I hate, work and fit well.  I like this Naxa so much that I have bought a second for my sister for Christmas.  I can't speak to the radio because I don't use it but it plays both MP3 and CD audiobooks well.  I started with batteries which only lasted for half of one book.  I bought a universal adapter with a 4.5v setting as well as several connectors for about $12 shipped and now I will never need batteries again.  It does not hold your place on a CD but since most books have chapters, I keep track of chapter end and skip to that place when I resume the book.  You can't beat the product for the money, just get yourself an adapter and you'll will be happy with the unit.  I gave it four stars since I can't rate the musical aspect of it and I do wish that it held your place on the CD.

An excellent little player

I was disappointed in this player as you have to use ear buds with it and they hurt my ears. Also it does not come with a power cord and it eats batteries like crazy!

Cd/mp3 potable player

Not real happy with this item. The on/off button is difficult to slide. It uses a lot of battery power when in the off position, which is just the CD player slide button with the CD off. I had to remove the batteries to save them between each use. Then I couldn?t find where I left off listening. It?s too frustrating.

The radio works, the MP3 player does not.
