The conclusion to the Capital Intrigue series will leave you on the edge of your seats! I instantly loved Jacob and Viv. The two are opposites, and watching them battle it out between the pages was great fun.
*This book was predominantly suspense. For those who love romantic suspense but want more of the suspense aspect, this book is perfect.

Power Play is an absolutely great read! Rachel Dylan has outdone herself with this book. This is a fast paced, edge of your seat, clean romantic suspense. The characters are very real and relatable. When a State Department lawyer is targeted by terrorists, it takes a team of the best agents from multiple agencies to protect her and track down the threat! Theres a perfect blend of suspense, romance, fear, hope and faith. This is the third book in the Capital Intrigue series and its phenomenal! I highly recommend this book!  I received an ARC from the publisher/author with no expectation of a good review. The opinion stated in this review is mine.

Outstanding

This is the third book in the Capital Intrigue Series, and oh my! I think this one was the best of all! And I loved the previous two!
I love that this series is about three best friends: Bailey, Layla and Vivian. This is Vivs story and wow! It was a total page turner. I couldnt stop biting my nails until the last page! There was so much fast paced action, danger, intrigue, intel information to digest, and the characters -Vivian and Jacob- were so well developed, complex, so opposite to each other, but they complemented so well! The plot is full of unexpected twists and with danger right around the corner the whole time. You are always wondering who is behind all this, what their motivations are, and what terrorist and of what country might be after something powerful that evades them. Always looking for connections, I love that part of the story, trying to tie all the events, actions, past actions, with extreme attention to detail. A small thing overseen might be what uncovers the criminals and the persons or terrorist group behind them.
The character development was very well done. I think, both Viv and Jacob grew during this story, especially Jacob. Trying to live their faith and trust God under these uncertain circumstances is no joke. And I loved the way they navigated through it all with God being their ultimate strength and the One who will always have their backs. It was a very inspiring book. Even after all the suspense, the author managed to thread in the faith elements in a very natural and even attractive way.
I also loved seeing Bailey and Layla again. And I loved meeting Delaney, she was a brave woman and had an important part in the uncovering of the truth.
Viv and Jacob both had issues from the past that needed to be dealt with. I loved how they supported each other and even sought counseling from experts, because it was not a simple issue to overcome. But they had each others back in the process.
The romance, which was not the main focus of the story, was really sweet. I loved the way they changed from not quite enemies, but opposites, to being there for the other and their feelings gradually changing to attraction, admiration, and then love. Clean love.
I definitely recommend this book to Romantic Suspense lovers. I assure it will keep you at the edge of your seat since page one and probably until the last page! An amazing read!
The book can be read as a standalone, but I strongly suggest to read the series in order. Youll love the group of friends, and how they have each other backs from the start.

Thrilling and Inspirational Romantic Suspense!

She wasnt sure whether the terror was over or just beginning.

Vivian Steele, lawyer, works in the Office of the Legal Advisor in the State Department - a behind the desk kind of job. Somehow that all changes in this incredible conclusion to the Capital Intrigue series. A state dinner, the death of two ambassadors and suddenly Viv finds herself in a dangerous position she would not have chosen!

The author has done a fabulous job of taking us behind the scenes as the FBI, CIA, State Department and others try to unravel the mystery behind these deaths. The non-stop action will keep you on the edge of your seat, wondering who can be trusted. Dont expect to put this one down until you reach the end.

Either you will get him, or I will....

I love this series of books.  I love each of these women that are the main characters.  I really enjoy that Vivian is not a spy and she is just a normal lawyer who is vulnerable.  She knows that she does need help from Jacob to get through this trying time in her career.  This has a few twists and turns and I look forward to many more stories from this author.  I love the romance and the suspense.  I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Love the romance and suspense

Power Play by Rachel Dylan is the third book in the Capital Intrigue series. I did not feel at a disadvantage having not read the first two. A dinner for diplomats in the nation's capital leads to two separate incidents both of which call for investigation. Could they be connected in some way? As you are introduced to Viv and Jacob and also Delaney and Weston, you will find yourself deep into the heart of suspense. So much information has been kept secret causing them to look over their shoulders and fear for their lives.  The plot is one of high suspense with a touch of romance woven in. This is definitely a must read for mystery lovers!

Great Read

This fast-paced tale of multiple FBI and CIA teams working around the clock to solve murders and stop terrorists opens with two people collapsing at a diplomatic dinner that sends the country into international commotion and turmoil.

I'm sorry to see this series end. I love the cameo appearances by the leads from the earlier stories and it was so fun to have Viv have her own heart-stopping story! Her swoony protector is a former Navy Seal, with a troubled past. Excellent romantic suspense!

I highly recommend Power Play and all the books in the Capital Intrigue series! Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.

Excellent Romantic Suspense!

Power Play by Rachel Dylan is an intriguing, engaging story that brings the Capitol Intrigue series to a dramatic conclusion.  This book tells the story of Vivian (Viv) Steele, who is an attorney for the State department. When two diplomats, one of which is a friend of hers, end up dead at a dinner where she is attending, she finds herself on the task force to figure out what has happened.  Jacob Cruz is the head of security at the dinner, so when two people end up dead, he is also put on the task force.  Despite tension when they first meet, he and Viv must work together to get the answers their looking for.  With compelling characters this fast paced plot is sure to please lovers of Romantic Suspense!

Sure to Please

In many ways I have not been looking forward to this book. Not because I dislike the author or anything, but because I'm sorry to be saying goodbye to the characters of the Capital Intrigue series. As much as I love starting a new series from Rachel Dylan I also hate knowing that with each page I turn in the that final book I am that much closer to the end. Was Power Play a good read? Yep! Sure was! Am I sad that it's the conclusion to a great series? Definitely. 

Once again, author Rachel Dylan brings her characters together on a task force that is bent on saving the world and finding the truth no matter the cost. Power Play takes on corruption and revenge on an international scale that can have lasting and very deadly repercussions. Multiple agencies are working together and against each other as Viv and Jacob try to survive navigate the lies, half truths, manipulation, and anger that surrounds them. Someone is definitely making a Power Play here...

This third Capital Intrigue novel really kept me guessing. There were so many threads of mystery that criss-crossed each other, and there may be a little double-crossing as well, that I was never quite sure who I thought was ultimately guilty. However, as always, Rachel Dylan expertly tied those threads together and I was left quite pleased to have been at least partially right. 

If you like legal thrillers and romantic suspense, I would highly recommend Rachel Dylan's exciting Capital Intrigue series. Power Play and its predecessors bring criminal justice to life in a vivid and entertaining way and will keep you glued to the page whether it's print or digital. Don't miss any of them!

Can they work together long enough to survive?

Power Play is the perfect ending to the Capital Intrigue series! I love the way that Dylan incorporated main characters from other books in the series to play important roles in this one  that definitely increased the connection between the books and provided fun updates on previously loved characters.

Although technically a romantic suspense, Power Play is definitely heavier on the romance end of the scale for me. Many scenes consist primarily of conversation of different types, keeping the drama and tension low. That makes it perfect for people who enjoy this genre but are bothered by high-stakes action and suspense.

Which isnt to say that there arent big action scenes in this story  there definitely are; but they also occur with a minimum of description and lots of speed, leaving the reader with a front seat for the actions aftermath. The story felt more sweet and romantic than tense and scary  its definitely a more personal story than most.

Perhaps thats because Viv seemed brutally honest about her feelings and what she wants. She kept laying her cards out on the table, leaving nothing back, keeping the emotional stakes high  and showing that she wasnt the type to play games. With that kind of all-in attitude, the romance stayed at the forefront of the story for me.

That made Jacob feel a bit more realistic to me. Maybe because Im not that willing to throw myself out there, or maybe because I kept wanting to shake Viv a bit and remind her of the stakes  not only of the romance, but of the case they were pursuing. That made me want to side with Jacob as he felt like the more experienced, wise main character  though I cheered each time that Layla entered the picture, too.

Power Play  and the whole Capital Intrigue series, really  is the perfect book for someone ready to take on more suspense and higher stakes but without too much tension or fear. Its a sweet, romantic story full of political intrigue and transparent emotion.
