This generator is worth every penny!

The instructions are sketchy, no mention of  having to break in and change oil before using but other than that so far so good. After adding 10-30 regular  oil ( which is not included) I ran it a few hours without putting a load on it and changed the oil once again with 10-30 regular oil. I then ran it several hours without putting a load and changed the oil again. I figure six hours and two changes is enough to seat the rings and complete the breaking period. Finally I put new oil in this time full synthetic. I drained the fuel tank and float bowl of all the gas and it'll be ready when needed.

I'll tell you when electricity goes out, the one thing I'm always concerned about is keeping my food from spoiling. This little generator powered my refrigerator and my freezer for an entire day. I didn't keep it running 24 x 7, but I turned it on long enough to keep my frozen items from thawing, and kept my refrigerated items from going bad. Just what I needed.

Saved my food.

I now have 20 hours on my PowerSmart 2500 inverter. It has worked flawlessly every time I pulled the cord. No complaints. 
I do recommend putting an hour meter on it and a magnetic dip stick before you even start it for the first time. It's important to change the oil after the first hour, after 5 hours and at 15 hours. This gets the break-in metal out and it's good to go for 20hrs which is the oil change interval from there on out. Use a hood small engine oil and it will last a very long time.

One Awesome Inverter

I ordered this in preparation for an ice storm, it arrived very quickly!  It is easy to move around with the handle, it was easy to get it ready to use.  You do have to remove a few screws %26 the side plate yo put the oil in, but it really was not a big problem. It came with a funnel to make it easier to fill.  Once it was ready to start, it cranked right up with no issues.  It was a little louder than I expected, but compared to other units it is quieter than most.  I think we will get a lot of use out of it, with its ease of portability. I would definitely recommend!

Affordable %26 easy to use!

Nice little generator. Started right up. A little heavier than expected and a little noisier. It is carbureted so will have to wait and see how it does at 7000'. PowerSmart supposedly sells an altitude kit which needs to be installed by an authorized dealer. There are only a few in the Western US.

Worthwhile purchase

We seem to have frequent power outages in East, TN. After the last one of 5 hours and some food going bad, I bought this as a Black Friday special after lots of research. Not even two weeks later power was out from 11 pm to 9 am. Thankfull,y I had already prepped the generator, added oil, and did some test runs.
It powered our side-by-side refrigerator with ice maker and lights for 9 hours overnight on a single tank of gas! It is quiet in eco mode, but you'll hear it get louder for a moment when the compressor for the fridge kicks on. I unplugged it for a moment to run an electric kettle, but it might've ran both.

I did some testing, and it was able to run the garage fridge and the inside house fridge at the same time, but I'm not sure if it would do it if both needed to start up at the exact same time.

It is quieter than I imagined, but I think Honda and some of the higher end $$ models might be quieter.  Mainly purchased for home backup of essential appliances, but it's light enough to take camping or use for an small travel trailer. So far, no regrets based on what I paid. We'll see how it does over the long haul.

Great little generator

We wanted a gas generator for camping. Our RV operates its DC and AC off of a solar generator. We want to be able to boondock anywhere. New, they want $1,400 for two 200 Watt solar panels. These two solar panels take 7 hours to charge the solar generator. The Power Smart at $340 charges the solar generator in one hour and we don't worry about cloudy days when no charging can occur using solar panels.

We looked on line for used gas generators. Used are priced at the cost of new. We simply added oil to the our brand new Power Smart 2500i Watt gas generator. After priming the gas generator per instruction, it started immediately.

I'm fairly strong for a woman. I lost and pack 25-50lbs on a regular basis. I can't seem to crank this bad boy on my own. I end up flooding the engine and have to let it sit a while then ask a guy to do it for me. I DO NOT LIKE THAT! how am I supposed to run my food truck on my own if I can't even crank the engine?

too hard to start

This product is advertised as running on both propane and gasoline. The description specifically mentions having a switch for changing between gasoline and propane. However, upon unboxing this is clearly a gasoline only generator. Rating 1 stars for false advertising.
