<p>La finalidad de esta investigación es proponer el enfoque geohistórico como praxis didáctica, para el aprendizaje de la geografía local. Se desarrolló desde la Escuela Social Avanzada "Don Rómulo Gallegos", parroquia Cristo de Aranza, municipio Maracaibo, estado Zulia - Venezuela, durante 2007-2008. El apoyo teórico se enmarca en lo geográfico y pedagógico que se fundamenta en los principios teórico-metodológicos del enfoque geohistórico y el aprendizaje significativo. El tipo de investigación es de carácter descriptivo. La muestra pedagógica la conformaron: 3 docentes y 76 estudiantes de noveno grado secciones "C" y "D". Para recolectar la información se aplicó la prueba diagnóstica y las guías geográficas. El procedimiento se estructuró en tres períodos y momentos, los cuales contemplan un conjunto de actividades. La importancia de este estudio radica en el diseño y aplicación del plan de acción, para abordar el aprendizaje significativo de la  geografía en Educación Básica.</p><br/><p>Venezolana. MSc. Geografía mención Docencia. Lic. Educación mención Ciencias Sociales. Docente en Educación Superior. Investigadora del Centro de Estudios Geográficos, Universidad del Zulia.
