[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I put this in my run area to bring up the height and increase drainange. I put hardware cloth down first, then covered it with 1 bag and a little extra from a second bag. Before I had my run sitting right on the grass. The wood at the bottom on the run sits flat on the ground so it holds the sand in place so keeping it from spilling out from under the edge. My girls went in after and now prefer to spend time in the run when it starts to get hot in the day (they free range). The sand is super easy to clean. I was going to use it in the coop as well but I am using the food bag method right now since our summers get so hot here in Texas and I have a small coop they only go in to at night.

Great for chickens

Expensive!!!  Unfortunately rain got to the sand before the chickens even got to use it!!!  We put our sand in a small child's wadding pool.  We had to add at least an equal amount of yard sand to even cover the bottom of the pool!!!  Not much sand for the price!!!  After the sand dried I drilled about 20 large holes in the bottom of the pool, added Diatomaceous Earth and First Saturday Lime and mixed everything.  We pushed it underneath the chicken coop.  Hopefully now no more rain will saturate the sand!!!  I'm praying that it will still work to keep our chickens parasite free!!!

Not much sand for the money!!!
