Easy to clean and use. Nice you can store oil with the provided lid. We use for fries: cut up fries and soak in water 30-90 min. Then fry in batches for 3.5 minutes; cool on baking sheet 20 minutes. Then fry again for 3-5 minutes until perfect color. We use peanut oil and theyre the best, similar to five guys. Would definitely recommend this fryer.

Great for all natural fries

It usually takes me a while to fry tofu, but this fryer does a plateful in less than 10 minutes! No splatter of oil all over the stove, this is compact. Fries perfectly every time. Plan to buy one for my parents and family members.

After every use, I leave it about an hour to cool before I drain the oil out over paper towel to catch all the particles of burnt batter, etc. Once the oil is clean, I run a paper towel on the bottom of the GranPappy to make sure I get all the particles out. Then pour back in the oil to save for the second batch. I would reuse the oil about 3 times before I throw it out.

I forgot to add that I didn't use the plastic spatula that comes with it. Instead I use really long, wooden chopsticks to pick out the tofu or fried vegetable.

It does use a lot of oil, but the end product is worth it.

Perfect size, cooks extremely fast, no splatter

This fryer is awesome !!
Bought this for frying in the kitchen so I don't have to fire-up my bigger gas fryer outside.
Originally bought the FryDaddy which is also excellent but smaller (1-2 people). The GranPappy fryer is better suited for larger quanity frying for a family or entertaining friends.
This unit fry's great, recovers heat fast. Good quality in construction of fryer.
One other note; this fryer is small enough to be portable so you can take it camping, to a party, out on the patio or anywhere else as long as you have an electric hookup.
I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good fryer at a decent price.

Excellent Fryer

I have a Presto Fry Daddy, but I wanted something bigger.  My Fry Daddy is at least 25 years old and still works, so I knew Presto was a good product. I've used the Presto GranPappy for fried chicken and frozen french fries, and it does a great job. I'm glad I bought it and I know I'll get a lot of use out of it.

Love this fryer. It not only heats up and cooks fast but it doesn't have all of those safety features. My last fryer had so many safety features that were a pain, literally, I got burnt so many times I had to get rid of it. This fryer does not come with a basket so you are able to just pick one piece at a time and the total fryer is used. It drys in half the time too.

Gran-Pappy

Purchased this as a replacement for my older fryer that was bigger with a basket. I had fry baby/daddy many years ago and liked them. So when replacing my old fryer I chose the pappy. Smaller than my older one which I like. Doesnt take up as much room but still does what I need. Like the lid and the scooping tools (wish they were still metal tho).

Just what I was looking For

This fryer is the perfect size. It doesn't take up too much storage space but provides plenty of room to cook your food. We are a family of 4 and get a lot of use out of this product. In fact, this is a replacement for our previous fryer. We wore that one out and just purchased this frye as our new one.

Great product for a great price!

Had 2 fancy fryers b4, they were a chore to clean and change oil. This is so much easier. Holds a large can of Crisco. Because it doesn't have a lid while frying the condensation doesn't fall into the hot grease. Don't put the storage lid on until the container cools. reccomend using a candy thermometer  and a simple mesh scoop.

Uses only 6 cups of oil.  Just the right size for the two of us.  I sit it in my sink to use.  Makes clean-up so much easier.  Had one for years before it went bad.  So glad to find it again.

Right Size for Two

This is the same model my husband has had around 15 years that finally died. He hooked it up and cooked the day he received this replacement. The food was awesome and cooked so fast!

Not what i expected. looks very cheep. They dont make stuff like they use to but yet charge more for it. Guess it will do for what i am using it for. About done ordering on line. plus messed my other orders up with wrong color of things and packages coming over a week late. 1st yr done all on line and probably wont do it again.

Stuff made cheap anymore but prices are higher
