Had seen these advertised on TV and when they were marked down for Xmas sales, I couldn't resist.  I don't feel like I have to press as hard and they seem brighter.  The 48 count gives me a good variety as well.  Will have to see how long they actually last.  So far, so good.

I have all the different types of the prismacolor pencils such as Premier, scholar, verithin etc. and must say these are the closest to the Premiers. The Premiers are very very pricey as all you coloring fans know. I purchased the verithin, the regulars etc, before purchasing the Scholars and let me tell you for this Walmart price the Scholars are amazing, and best of all they do not break as easily as the Premiers when sharpening. 
Definitely great buy for 48 count.

Awesome pencils

My child is Starting art class and i wanted her to be outfitted with all the things she needed. I understand that prismacolor is the best in the industry, but can be very pricey. I was able to afford this on my limited budget.

GREAT VALUE

watch for price changes, the day we looked at them it was 22.00, then when we needed to order them it was over 24.00 and now, today it is 20.23 - if you want them buy them today as the price is better. They are good quality.

great color selection - superior quality

i use Prismacolor pencils myself, in my own coloring. They're very easy to use, and the colors are beautiful. My grandkids also love them, because they're what i use. I can't afford to have the kids use them tho, so we tried out this scholar set. Because the cores are so much stronger, they hold up better under kid-use. When you find these on sale, go for it. Im very happy with them, and so are the grandkids.

My children take art lessons and these pencils were recommended by their teacher. They have lasted for years.

Excellent art pencils

these pencils are smooth riding there's no streaking and like some other pencil colors when you finish coloring the page looks like it's chalky so i buy no other pencils but prism

Best pencilcolors

I found scholar coloured pencils to be a good choice for students  and beginners. The colors are bright and vibrant . The pencils have a comfortable grip and sharpen easily without breaking often

The portability is great and the design is so simple but cute! The performance of the pencils are amazing and work so well. The maintenance of the pencils are good too

Great pencils

i do like them, but i don't see why they are so expensive.  a few of the colors are brighter, more intense than the crayola or crazy art pencils, but i do not see any reason for them to be so much more expensive than the others.  sometimes i think they are too waxy and i find myself using my crayola and crazy art pencils a lot more than the prismacolors.  shading seems easier with my old pencils and blending is about the same.  i love some of the prismacolor colors that you can't get with the others, tho.  I'm glad i paid a sale price and not full price.  note, these are the Scholars i'm talking about...i have not tried the Premium yet, but i do plan to.

should be priced lower

I bought these colored pencils for myself, to use in adult coloring books. Previously I was using my kids crayola color erase pencils. They are very soft pencils and don't hold a good point. The colors are also very soft.
The colors in these pencils are very bold, which is the only good thing about them. I didn't have to press hard to get a good bold color either.
The huge problem - they won't sharpen. I just got them about an hour ago, and already my blue is about 3 inches long - not from coloring, from trying to sharpen.
I used 3 different sharpeners, thinking one may not have been sharp enough and that was the problem, it wasn't.
I would sharpen a couple turns, and the end would fall off. I never got an actual point. When I finally got it sharpened enough the color was showing out of the wood, the color was great, but it wouldn't last.
Definitely wouldn't buy again, and definitely wouldn't recommend.
