The Proctor Silex Hot Pot, Electric Kettle, 32 Ounces or 4 Cups, Nonstick Surface, Adjustable Heat, White, 48507 is amazing!  I had previously purchased a Rival Electric Hot Pot many years ago.  Due to wear and tear and leaking of my old hot pot, I need another one.  When I saw this pot online, it was a pleasant surprise.  I read the specifications, etc.  I knew I had a winner.  The price was reasonable and when I tried it out at home, it was exactly what I wanted.  I am so happy and satisfied, that I purchase another one for work as well.  When I want some instant coffee, hot chocolate, tea, or soup, this is what you should get for a quick heating up of water.  It heats up the water very quickly.

Yes, I saw reviews complaining about the lid being impossible to open. Not like I wasn't warned. I figure that I or a friend will see how to narrow the lid edges so it  fits normally. Willing to deal with the issue because it was cheap enough. And today, 3/6/23 (3 mos after purchase), I finally got to try the pot. It's great! Needed to heat up my coffee, and in no time it hit boiling point. It wasn't even set that high. I did not shut the lid, so no struggle to remove it. I love this pot! I'm going to order another one. If Proctor Silex would fix the lid problem, I can't see that a single negative review would happen. Really nice pot, and I'm so glad I got it.

This is ideal for apartment dwellers %26 for those who want to heat up water for a cup of coffee faster than a microwave does, this will do the job. In fact, I see it as using less energy or electric than a microwave.... At least mine does, for me. I'm loving it

Awesome!

IT's great.  The only thing to make it better would be an on/off switch.  Heats so fast, so easy to clean.  I use a french press for my coffee and this s o is so fast at heating it makes it so much qicker.  I heat soup and veggies.  It isn't to great for cream based soup.  I boiled eggs.  I put the eggs in covered it with water brought it to a boil.  I shut if off and left them for 15 minutes and they were perfect.

I'm a teacher and I love the fresh hot food by avoiding the microwave and going out wasting money. My son is in his first year of college and uses this for ramen and other soups. It also makes eggs, and more. I used one in college and am so glad these are still available. This is just the perfect size and the temp settings are only available with this.

Perfect for college and for teachers

it is pretty basic, but i just wanted to be able to have a hot tea, or oatmeal, or cupo soup, while i am upstairs. cant get up and down more than once or twice, so  it is nice to have that ability.. it boils water quickly. i would be very careful using this around kids as with any product that holds hot water . great little  device. i am happy with the  price, quick ship, and the function.

great price and function

Needed it for hot water for drinks without dealing with the kitchen and all the big appliances. Easy to lift , I'm not as strong as I used to be, and eady to store.

Easy to use!

It starts to boil very quickly which is good but then you turn it down and it seems to quit boiling for awhile but then starts up again when all I wanted for it to do was simmer..... i would have to say that it serves the purpose i bought it for but i don't like the stop and start effect. When i want it to stop boiling, I don't want it to start up again on its own.

Hot Pot with a mind of its own

I liked that the kettle was light wt. It boiled water faster than my micro. It has a nice big temperature knob that goes from warm to boil and in between. It holds a lot. 
I got it because I have no stove right now.
I tried cooking ramen noodles.
It worked. Brought 2 c water to boil, added noodles and boiled 3 minutes. Worked great.
Don't be afraid to grab the knob on the lid and pull HARD to get the lid off.
What i don't like is: the cord is too short, about 18 inches.
There is no pilot light to tell if it is off or on.
It is hard to wash. The cord is hard wired on, so you can't submurse it in water. You have to hold the cord with one hand, so the cord doesn't go in the water while you wash it under running water with the other hand...at least that's how I had to do it.
For heating non greasy items or water, it would be great. Cleaning it was my biggest concern.

Yes, it boils the water...but what good is the water if you can't get the lid off, and you can't see the " fill  line " ?  The instructions are very adamant about how dangerous it is to go beyond the fill line, the boiled water would sputter out and burn you....but try to FIND the fill line ! ?  At first I thought there was no fill line because the inside of the pot just looked all white with no words, no letters, no lines.  But eventually I got my 92 year old Mother's magnifying glass and found something....." my God", I thought,  " is that what they expect us to recognize as a fill line " ??   The 2nd thing, is, what others have mentioned.....you have to be Hercules to get this lid off !  The instruction manual says to  simply grab the knob and "pull up"....are they kidding?  I had to wrap my left arm all around the body of the kettle, and then pull endlessly on the knob with my right...but the kettle was empty...if there had been boiled water in it,  I would not be able to wrap my left arm around it, because the boiled water would burn me !  So it you have the strength of Hercules and the vision of Superman,  go ahead and buy it.
