The PROGEAR 1600 Power Cage is made with a durable heavy duty 2" by 2" tubular steel frame construction.  The cage is designed with a large walk- in space providing easy side to side movement.  It comes with two chrome dual mounted safety bars and two chrome lock-on safety bars. awesome piece of equipment.  The price was decent. It wasn't too difficult to assemble. Remember to not completely tighten all the bolts until you are done assembling because you may need a little wiggle room putting everything together. This comes in a heavy box about 150 pounds. Shipping to longer than estimated but that was fedexs fault not walmarts. Also the balance form  1000 was 60 dollars more and if inad seen it sooner I probably would have have bought that instead. It comes with dip bars and plate holders. That alone is worth it.  I'm not going over 800 for sure and 1000 is an overkill for sure but its nice to have the higher rating. Anyways I ordered the dip bars because I'm pretty sure they're interchangeable.

I am a 35 yr old woman who started lifting this year.   Due to the pandemic, I needed something for my home gym. For the price, this is excellent quality!   It shipped much faster than expected.   I immediately assembled it (all by myself) and it took about 2 hours but is definitely do-able solo. The only additional tool I needed was a hammer for the end caps.     Due to ceiling height, I absolutely attached the pull up bar inverted ;) I'm not doing pull-ups yet, plus I'm extremely short so it's fine for me.   But if you're worried about ceiling height — attaching it inverted is an option.

Quality piece of equipment

If this is available, get it right away! Best purchase for my home gym ever. Very sturdy for pullups and any work out. Ive used this for squats and bench press and holy crap best thing ever. Assembled it by myself which was super easy. Also bought the lat pulldown attachment a few weeks later that was a litte harder to assemble but manageable. Overall, if its available.. get it NOW!

Best power rack for the price!

I recently bought this squat rack and so far I am extremely happy with it. Setting it up was fairly easy (I did it on my own) If you have another person to help it will be way easier. It is pretty sturdy although it shakes a little bit when I put the rack on it but nothing too bad. Now, if you are one of those people that likes to slam weights around then this might not be for you or you will need to find a way to bolt it down.  Overall I am very happy with this purchase.  Great investment!

Bang for your buck!

It arrived as promised.  The rack is well made and went together easily.  I wouldn't recommend for someone much taller than 6 ft because of the rear upper crossmember.  Your head will hit it when racking the bar.  It's a very nice and affordable rack for home use.  I use it for barbell squats, bench press, presses (overhead) and pull-ups.  It's solid but I don't know how it would do with 500 or 600 lbs. I wish the j hooks were a little larger.  I can't immediately tell if I'm securely on them when racking a heavy weight.  I'm very happy with the product!

Great quality and value

Easy to assemble, but takes about an hour. Seems pretty solid and good for home use. It is in my basement which has 84" ceilings so this just barely fits.

Gets the job done

I have been looking everywhere for an affordable but quality power rack to add to my home gym for a few years now. Never would I have thought to look at Walmart! I almost spent $1000  on a high end brand name power rack, and I'm so glad I didn't! 

The item shipped a week sooner than expected, which was a delight! The directions to assemble the power rack are easier than ikea directions, and all the equipment needed to assemble are provided! Although if you have a socket wrench, would definitely make assembly quicker! I also purchased the lat pull down attachment as well as the bench (on its way). If you are at all hesitant about the cost and skeptical if it is too good to be true, I'm telling you to buy this! I literally get excited to work out now that I have this to use!

Exceeded expectations!!

it was very easy to put together, same size bolts makes assembly much easier, its very stable, Im 6,4 and 197lbs and it doesnt move when I do pull ups, the jhooks could be bigger definitely kinda stressful when you have 200lbs over your head but if you have the safetys you should be okay, overall a good product worth buying

Good product

Very happy with it.  Just barely clears floor joists 7ft from basement  floor.  When assembling the pull up bar didn''t seem like it was going to fit, but when both sides were made square and plumb (no angle at all), there was just enough clearance.  If needed, you could get an extra 1/4" clearance by removing the plastic feet.  If your floor was poured too thick, it probably won't fit.

Just fits 7ft ceiling

watched a bunch of videos and read reviews on this rack so I gave it a shot. it is light weight but will work for most people building a cheap home gym. The packaging came with no damage and all the parts were wrapped in plastic. I was able to put it together by myself in 2hrs with 2-17mm sockets (the supplied wrench tools are terrible). The shipping was fast and arrived before the expected shipping date.

Why the 3 stars?
I had very high expectations on this cage. I knew what I was buying when I placed the order. I did not expect for parts to have rust damage when everything was wrapped and sealed. The pull up bar has noticable rust damage in the middle of the bar and along one of the welds. The black finish on the bar is bubbled and chipping away bc of the rust. I'm a little worried if the rust has weakened the pull bar. To me, from a safety standpoint, this is minus 2stars. The supplied J-hooks are shallow. I might use them just to hold the bar for squats but I ordered better J-hooks.

Also, Read the Instructions!!!! There are 2 uprights with labels on them. They are for the left side of the cage and have to be assembled correctly or the holes will not line up properly.

Yes4All makes a bunch of attachments for the 2x2 uprights. I would recommend the plate holders to make this rack a lot stabler.

Not bad but had rust damage

Cage sways about 1 foot to the left and right. Not sure if this non rigidity is intended or part of the design. Part about tightening bolts makes no sense because the cage came with lock nuts that leave about an inch of clearance from the frame when fully tightened. Lack of sturdiness feels like the cage has already failed and could collapse. Cage arrived with scuff marks near the holes and greased bolts made it appear used. Paint is coming off the frame so bad you can rub the paint off with your hands. Walmart should test products before selling them and do more to prevent fake positive reviews.
