I've tried a few electric shavers. My first shaver, way back was a Remington, never irratating great shaver, except when the blades wore out after about a year. This R5 motor is about twice the power of the returned Philps 3000. As far as I know, either can't be plugged in on use like older ones. They are lighter. I have an old gift 3000 plug in/chargeable I always felt they irratate some. New 3000 rechargable yep, with nothing new...worse, a single channel blade but good pivots. Kinda weird but have a Gillete feel after a quick use with the R5, not a bad thing. I don't like the new style "pin" for the pop up cleaning/blades. Just a quick impression. It would be great to see marketing embrace a kick butt base with a few attachements for pivot/smoothness/quickness. Thats all...I would posibly recommend R5, but just used, so? I would recommend possibly the microflex or one up for a great shaver. Ok so  far..
