I've had the RX160iN for around 5 months, and it works perfectly!  I took my time and installed it myself.  I really like the ability to use plain pvc pipe for intake and exhaust ducts, and that it easily switches between gas types (I use propane).  It would have been nice if  Rinnai supplied  more hardware with the unit, especially mounting screws.  I wish the fan wouldn't run quite so long, but I know that it's necessary for correct operation, and it really isn't all that loud.  From the time the unit lights until water is full hot at my furthest faucet only takes about 20 seconds!  I definitely made the right choice with this purchase!

Great first tankless water heater!

The tankless water heater that we received and was installed at our home has been a good addition to our home. The advantage  of having one  versus the typical bulky  water tank is great with  on demnand hot water, physical space and energy savings set this system appart of the traditional  ones.

Reliable Product meeting our expectations

I had a tank water heater and could only have one fixture or appliance running at one time. Now i can run everything.  It also takes up a lot less space in the cellar. The only down side is it takes longer for the water to get hot at the tap. This could be remedied in the future if I have my house plumbing updated to alow the water to circulate.

I never run out of hot water.

I'm on my 2nd Rinnai. First one lasted 21 years and I didn't keep it cleaned as I should have or it may have lasted longer! I like to take LONG showers. I've even napped in the shower when sick because the hot water was soothing. So never running out of hot water is important to me. Can't do that with a traditional hot water tank. Saves money overall because I don't keep heating/reheating water all day when I only use it for showers, dishwasher, hand washing.

Cost savings

Have had my Rinnai for 7 months, it works well and hasn't had any issues or needed any repair. The machine works great but it's unfortunate how much time it needs to get hot water from source. When you need hot water it feels like you need 2 minutes of wasting running water in order to get hot water which just feels wasteful and expensive. The water heater has been very reliable and works everytime so overall there is very little to not like about it.

Good but not great

I have only had it about six months. Installing it was very appropriate for me because the gas connection was already in place.  I like the fact that I don't have to worry about a hot water tank malfunctioning and releasing all its water. The one thing I don't like about a tankless water heater is that it has to make noise to do its work.

My Experience with Rinnai's Tankless Water Heater

I like the space saving design, but I've never been able to connect it to the app to access the full features. Also, I feel the maximum temperature of 120 degrees is too low. I want hotter water, but I haven't found a way to bypass any of the safety features.

Traditional Water Heaters Preferred

Sensitive to dust in air intakes and exhaust.  Constantly giving exhaust vent errors.  LOUD.  Takes forever to heat up water (5 mins) but when it finally does, it's nice.  Until it overheats, then shuts off due to being on too long.   Endless hot water my Fanny.  Not true

First Tankless experience NOT GOOD

Operating for 6 months, during which gas use dropped by 1/3 while water use increased. Dislike waiting 2-3 minutes in the shower for hot water, then sometimes the water goes cold for several minutes. The last power outage was challenging since it needed electricity to operate.

Time & Water Waster

It takes a long time to get hot water, especially during the winter, so it's not a worthwhile product for colder months. When two taps are used at the same time, the water flow to the other tap decreases significantly. It also wastes a lot of water while waiting for it to heat up, which increases the water bill. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
