I have never used a back support before but I decided to give it a try as I am aging and I have some arthritis in my lower spine.  Bending over in my garden and having to limit my time so I do not have much pain has been difficult.  Overall this back support is a good investment.  My only concern is that it is difficult to wear when it is hot and it does slip a bit when I bend forward.  I sometimes wear it in the evening to soothe my back after time in the garden.
