The winch is exactly as described and worked well for the intended purpose. Shipping and notifications are a different story.  2 day shipping was closer to 2 week shipping with poor status updates. WalMart shouldn't promote items sold and shipped by 3rd parties as 2 day shipping when they have no control over the process. This is common problem with 3rd party shipping.

nice cheap winch

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was exactly what I was looking for, it only took 2 days to arrive and it is a quality name brand.

I bought my 1st one 25 years ago and just replaced it with a new one only because my cable snapped on old one. I used my old one 2 or 3 times a week for 15 years straight and then 2 to 3 times a month the last 10 years. I used it to load cars on my car trailer no problems it was slow on heavy loads but that to be expected. The only difference between the new one is it's  2000 lbs my old one was 2000 lbs rolling  weight and loved it. I would load 4 and 5 thousand lbs cars,truck and van.
 The only reason I got the new one was for $25 more than what the replacement cable cost I could get a new one and retire my old one.

Great portable winch and cheap

I am retired with an engineering degree in aviation and space applications. (rocket science). I needed a product to facilitate the lifting of a 1,000 pound motorcycle through a ratchet type safety control. The lift was attached to a large diesel powered motor home. I needed a winch that could be removed from the lift after the motorcycle was in place. I purchased the Reese winch and performed a dis-assembly. It is A REMARKABLE WELL DESIGNED product with many value engineering concepts. I found it to be a much better product than the MASTERLOCK ATV winch. However, it is not proposed to be comparable to the WAREN 1200 winch. I was satisfied with the product and re-assembled it. I mount it to the lift-ratchet device and have run it through 100 cycles. I have NO PROBLEMS with the product. IT IS A LIGHT DUTY DEVICE and it is exceptional value for this application. THIS PRODUCT EXCEEDS MY EXPECTATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL DEMANDS.

Arrived with fist sized hole penetrating box and styrofoam.  I tried it anyway and it could pull my Wolverine x2 rolling up the ramp into a midlevel enclosed trailer but it stopped every 8 seconds for a while to reset.  It is going back, 2000 lb rating is not enough for my 1500 lb SXS

seems weaker than rated

This gets a one. Contrary to what it says, the cable will need to be converted to a synthetic strap to avoid binding when recovering a boat. The battery cables are not long enough and the plug where it attaches to the winch broke immediately, so I will add a few more feet of cable and hard wire it to the winch. I would rate this winch for 1000 pounds and not the 2000 pounds as stated.

Not Worth It

I BOUGHT THIS WINCH AND TOOK IT HOME. OPENED IT UP AND TOOK IT OUT AND IT WAS BEAT UP VERY BADLY. MOST OF PAINT TOOK OFF PLASTIC WAS ALL SCRATHED UP. I BEGAN TO PULL THE CORD OUT TO INSPECT IT AND IT WAS FRAIED IN SEVERAL PLACES AND WAS LOCKED UP ONCE I PULLED TEN FOOT OF CORD OUT.

WAS USED AND DID NOT WORK!!!

i bought the winch took it out of the box hooked it up to my atv it worked fine. i got stuck while riding and hooked it to a tree, and all i heard was a clicking i ended up not geting my atv out and the river rose and flooded it. so dont buy it. it is not good but i guess you get what you pay for
