[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This crib rail assembly from regalo is a much better thought out than what I grew up with. Firstly, I strongly recommend using the instructions for assembly. The reason, while overall simple to put together, there are specific steps to take in certain order. When putting the rods together, there was some minor difficulty properly fitting the rods together or even into their plastic joints. I used a small rubber mallet to help seat the rods into place and their is a spring loaded but to snap in place once seated. I found it simpler to arrange the rail with the under bar and straps facing away from me.
Upon completion of the assembly, use a measuring tape in order to know how much length of adjuster strap you will be using for your particular mattress width. This saves you the time of repeatedly removing the mattress when installing the rail under your mattress. Extend the straps three to four inches further than the width of the mattress as you can adjust them back and forth later. After you place mattress over the under bar and straps, then familiarize yourself with the action of raising the rail up and down with the locking tabs. One of my tabs was difficult to lock in place and I added a dab of vaseline for lubricating the plastic pieces. The only reason I see for unlocking, might be when changing sheets for cleaning, otherwise the rail should be upright at all times.
Pros .............Assembly instructions very friendly
Sturdy construction and child friendly appearance
Appears very safe
Cons............. The length of the rail seems too short for some cribs
(note: buyer should know the size of their crib before purchasing)

Safety for the crib

When we first set up our daughters bed we used a mesh bed rail made for a regular sized bed thinking it would work the same way. We were wrong lol so I searched specifically for toddler day beds and purchased this one and we absolutely love it! Very easy to install (I was able to do it myself) and very sturdy. I would definitely recommend this rail to anyone that's in need of one!

Exactly what we needed

At first I almost regretted buying this. Assembling it was kinda hard because you basically set the parts down and put the mattress on top. Nothing is actually latched to the crib for safety. BUT once I got it together, everything was fine. My son doesn't fall out and he sleeps crazy. I like the size. The crib is pretty big and it leaves enough space for him to climb out safely.

Cheap product but works well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Firstly, my package arrived in the original factory box [ no extra protection!] -- with only a bit of extra tape to keep it closed in UPS shipping from WA to OH. The box looked like it had been drug behind the truck--a badly banged and torn box.. but intact and no inward signs of damage or dirt.---so I was relieved. I couldn't assemble immediately due to a fall and wrist damage..but all parts were there and an EXCELLENT -3 language [ENG-SPAN-FRENCH] instruction booklet with numerous photos for assembly-- and the way to do it easily--step by step. I had time to review that for several days so when I could assemble it--IT WAS A SNAP!! be wise READ the instructions first!! This was a Spark review offering or I may have bought a more expensive one without trying-- it is great quality for my purposes-- occasional use with visiting family or baby sitting--young-- children...not everyday use. That said, I still think you would get good daily service if you care for the product and don't have a hectic sleeper. Assembly with a damaged wrist was still easy with no extra help-- maybe 30 minutes or less. All of the pieces slipped together with ease and the cover [ rather low quality-- but sufficient-- went on without problems or tearing. [ I DID reinforce the stress points with some extra stitches of thread as they were NOT well finished from the factory! -China made] The zipper closing was sturdy-- but stitches were not-- but a minor fix for the low cost. I had no trouble fastening it to the under frame--read instructions! and then replacing the mattress to hide the works from curious fingers. MY only problem is that my bed was low to the floor and when the rail is down-- it is at an angle [ out -->from bed ] and gets in the way of your feet. kids might want to use it as a mini slide-- DON'T encourage or the fabric will tear quickly from stress and body weight. I liked the height and the 34'' length left enough room to exit the bed-- but still prevent roll outs. //// It could well be used with a senior-- not so much for sleeping protection or body weight support-- but as way to keep things from rolling off a regular bed-- to, keep extra pillows or blankets close at hand. I felt this was a good option for the current $18.00 price-- up to $35.+ at some stores for the identical product. My 4 rating was solely due to having to reinforce inadequate factory stitching of the fabric cover edges--a quality control / inspection over sight -- but very important to make it be longer lasting. enjoy!!

I'm pleased in my circumstance and use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this for my Great Grand Son. He is 1 year old. Got a very nice crib at Walmart and wanted this to convert the crib so he could get in and out easily. I is very simple to install. It is about 34" long. I slides securely under the mattress. The cap guards hold it in place. It will swing down for child to easily get out. With the rail down, it is very easy to make the bed. It is very light and best of all, I did not have to use any tools to install. I rate this a 4 Star.

Very Nice Swing Down Crib Rail

I bought this item on sale and under $20 and I am happy with my purchase. I had some challenges fitting the pieces together, but nothing too bad. The fabric that covers thr rail could be a little thicker, as I see signs of strain on the sides where fabric is stiched together. Im just hoping a thread doesn't pop, or worse, the fabric tears.

As far as functionality it does its job as a bed rail. While my son hasn't slept in the crib with it yet, he and his 4 year old brother pretended to sleep in the crib and its a good length to keep him from falling out. I also laid myself in the crib and put my weight of 144lbs against the rail and it stayed put.

I am using this on a AFG athena daphne crib with a board bottom. I tried the regular bedrail of the same brand but it was too long. This rail allows my son the space to get in and out on his own. He still sleeps in our room in a pack n play, but Im waiting until after his 2nd birthday to put him in his crib converted to a toddler bed. For the price I paid and its fictionally I would give it 5 stars, but took a star off for the fabric and the fact that I dont know how long it will hold up once my son starts sleeping in the crib.

Serves the purpose!

My 21 month old son started hating his crib, so we took the rail down to make it a toddler bed. I was afraid he would roll out of his bed, so I purchased this product. It took me less than 10 minutes to set up, the top bar was slightly crooked, so it took a little extra time wiggling the pins into place. It's been on his bed for 2 weeks, works really well, and I moved it closer to one side of the bed so there's plenty of room for my son to climb in and out of bed. Perfect for what we needed, and haven't had any issues so far.

Inexpensive and works great!

Dangerous item for child. Does not securely fit to crib . My toddler fell out of bed and it came off and was wrapped around her. Defiently getting rid of asap and buying elsewhere

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had bad luck with my Regalo Swing Down Convertible Crib Rail. It looked perfect when I took it out of the box. There are very few pieces to assemble and they should click very easily together. My set had some extra paint on the portion that clicked into the interlocking pieces that made it impossible to successfully lock the bars together. After shaving off the extra paint, I was able to assemble one section of the bar. As I was attaching it to the second section of bar when the interlocking piece snapped and lodged within the hallow portion of the bar making it impossible for the bar to safely and securely attach to the other portion of the bar. I am very disappointed and I am working with Regalo to get the malfunctioning part replaced.

I will update this post once I've received the replacement parts.

The quality has not been what I'm used to from Regalo. The product itself was very easy to assemble, until the interlocking piece failed. It looks like it would be perfect for my son, once I get that part swapped out. It is lightweight and looks very nice. It is the right length to fit in the convertible crib.
