Effective for containing dogs in specific areas.

Can be smooth, but also stiff and hard to use.

Can be straightforward, but may require extra effort in certain settings.

Ignore the directions, use the provided templates.  The templates  make it self explanatory.   I also like that they provided two sets of s rews for use depending on where the gate is being installed.  They also include shims which can come in handy,again, depending on where you are installing it.

Use for small dog (8 lb) who barks if she can't see into certain areas.  Blocks the hallway physical but not the view allowing her to go into the bedroom, bathroom and see what is going on beyond the short hallway.  Have pit bull visiting that doesn't challenge the screen but can see the small dog in the other side so barking by both dogs are less, keeps the hallway and beyond big dog free and not marked with urine or other things. I'm able to get wheelchair pass the screen gate opening easily if needed. I'm able to pull it out one handed but tend to use two hands to get it secured in the receptors.   I was Uber happy the foster dogs are contained and safe

This gate is retractable.  It lets my cats out while it keeps my dogs in. Im talking about my room. 
I close the gate because I don't want my dogs in my room they tend to love my bed.
At the same time  I love the fact that I leave my bedroom door open so that my cats have access to my room.
I bought this gate before for the upstairs.  The installation was very simple. 
The installation on this gate however was difficult.  Eventually I got it done. 
I highly recommend this gate to those who have small children and animals.

I bought this just to use at night to keep my pets from wandering down the stairs. The gate and price is fine for that use. I would recommend one of the metal baby gates if this were something that I was opening and shutting constantly as it isn't as easy to open as the metal ones. The handle isn't centered so you need both hands to open it.

The gate was a bit difficult to install, and it looked like it had been a return, because some of the wall anchors and screws were missing from the package. And the template to mark the points to screw into the wall was torn in half.
Gate works fine, but the setup was just a bit difficult alone. Maybe easier with two people?

Difficult Installation

Gait is very flimsy,easy to touch and open.gate will open at rapid speed and smash fingers and hands. Has a lock to prevent that from happening however lock does not work when gate is in use. Only works when gate is rolled up to prevent it from being unrolled into a usable position . My toddler can open this gate with ease.

Even a one yr old can open this gate.

I was very disappointed. I bought this to keep my 15 pound cocker spaniel out of one room in the house. She can jump on the gate and it will open. When it retracts back it is very hard and slams into the doorway. If it were being used for a child or baby I would be terrified of them being hurt. My fur baby was able to jump back and not get hurt. It's also not the easiest to operate. The bottom of the gate struggles to latch and unlatch when trying to enter or exit. If I had kept the box I would have returned it.

Not what I had hoped

Maybe we got a defective date, but this thing is the worst one I have ever used. First of all installation was difficult because of the very weak screws supplied, several of which broke.. 
Once that was overcome, and it was finally installed, we  quickly realized this gate is definitely not what we wanted and needed! . 
Not only is it not easy, one-hand use, it takes two hands, a foot, and sometimes help from another person to use! . THE TENSION IS WAY TOO HIGH AND CANNOT BE ADJUSTED! So, the only way we've found to use it is to use one hand to grab the top and relieve some tension while trying to wrestle the top and bottom latches open or closed. 
We have to keep two dogs separated and use a gate between the living room and the rest of the house, so we need to pass through the gate constantly. After a few days of trying to make it work, we are all totally done!! 
I am recovering from major spinal surgery, and the wooden freestanding gate that we had was too heavy for me, so when I found a gate that said it was easy enough to operate with one hand while holding a baby I thought certainly it would be easier for me. Instead, it has made my back hurt terribly every time I pass through it, and I believe it's making my back worse and slowing my recovery. I'm not a frail, older person either. I'm in my 40's and in good shape. 
This gate has to go! We don't have the box, so if Regalo doesn't make it right, hopefully WalMart will. 
I'm going to try calling  Regalo tomorrow. Their response (and solution) will decide whether to ever give their brand another try.

One-handed? Def NOT! Horrible to use? Yep!

​It was easy enough to install, but that's where the positives end. My girls (ages 2 and 3) can climb right under it. Worse, they've run into it twice, and both times it completely disconnected from the wall dock. We stopped using it immediately for safety.
​We bought this to keep the kids from running down the hallway while family was sleeping, but now it just sits there, unused. I'm honestly relieved I had it locked during those impacts; I can't imagine the chaos if it had retracted while also snapping off the wall.
​If you have active toddlers, save yourself the stress and get a solid walk-through gate instead. This one is loud when it retracts and just doesn't hold up. Definitely looking into a refund.

Disappointed – Not Toddler Proof!

The gate's tension was super tight and almost took 2 hands always to latch the gate back. It was so hard to use that my children started undoing only the top latch, which put too much pressure on the bottom latch, after less than 6 weeks we broke the plastic latch. Had to trash it.

Not worth it
