Effective for containing dogs in specific areas.

Can be smooth, but also stiff and hard to use.

Can be straightforward, but may require extra effort in certain settings.

Can be secure, but may also be finicky or unreliable.

This gate is retractable.  It lets my cats out while it keeps my dogs in. Im talking about my room. 
I close the gate because I don't want my dogs in my room they tend to love my bed.
At the same time  I love the fact that I leave my bedroom door open so that my cats have access to my room.
I bought this gate before for the upstairs.  The installation was very simple. 
The installation on this gate however was difficult.  Eventually I got it done. 
I highly recommend this gate to those who have small children and animals.

Use for small dog (8 lb) who barks if she can't see into certain areas.  Blocks the hallway physical but not the view allowing her to go into the bedroom, bathroom and see what is going on beyond the short hallway.  Have pit bull visiting that doesn't challenge the screen but can see the small dog in the other side so barking by both dogs are less, keeps the hallway and beyond big dog free and not marked with urine or other things. I'm able to get wheelchair pass the screen gate opening easily if needed. I'm able to pull it out one handed but tend to use two hands to get it secured in the receptors.   I was Uber happy the foster dogs are contained and safe

The gate was a bit difficult to install, and it looked like it had been a return, because some of the wall anchors and screws were missing from the package. And the template to mark the points to screw into the wall was torn in half.
Gate works fine, but the setup was just a bit difficult alone. Maybe easier with two people?

Difficult Installation

I bought this just to use at night to keep my pets from wandering down the stairs. The gate and price is fine for that use. I would recommend one of the metal baby gates if this were something that I was opening and shutting constantly as it isn’t as easy to open as the metal ones. The handle isn’t centered so you need both hands to open it.

The unlock and locking mechanism is not the greatest. Actually bought two and had to throw one away. Went to unlock and the springs that hold the mesh when it’s not locked came completely apart. Would definitely recommend finding something different to get if used in an area where there’s alot of traffic.

We tried to get same gate we had previously/was unavailable, and unfortunately this new model MUCH worse - very hard to open/close and has crease at bottom where dangerously loose no matter how you readjust it so there is opening or gap at bottom/top of stairs for us that is dangerous for little one. Oh, and will not stay in locked position so bends!

Do not recommend for child safety - keep looking!

Keep looking - unsafe for child!

I was very disappointed. I bought this to keep my 15 pound cocker spaniel out of one room in the house. She can jump on the gate and it will open. When it retracts back it is very hard and slams into the doorway. If it were being used for a child or baby I would be terrified of them being hurt. My fur baby was able to jump back and not get hurt. It’s also not the easiest to operate. The bottom of the gate struggles to latch and unlatch when trying to enter or exit. If I had kept the box I would have returned it.

Not what I had hoped

The baby lifted the mesh and crawled right under it on the first day 😂 Installation was a pain and required a drill. The gate is difficult to pull out and latch, requiring 2 hands. The force at which the gate pulls back into the base has actually already started pulling the latches out of the wall after about a week of light use. I did use the fasteners that came with it but will need to find a way to reinforce it if I plan to continue to use it.  In all honesty, I will probably be going back to a different gate soon.

The gate’s tension was super tight and almost took 2 hands always to latch the gate back. It was so hard to use that my children started undoing only the top latch, which put too much pressure on the bottom latch, after less than 6 weeks we broke the plastic latch. Had to trash it.

Not worth it

​It was easy enough to install, but that’s where the positives end. My girls (ages 2 and 3) can climb right under it. Worse, they’ve run into it twice, and both times it completely disconnected from the wall dock. We stopped using it immediately for safety.
​We bought this to keep the kids from running down the hallway while family was sleeping, but now it just sits there, unused. I’m honestly relieved I had it locked during those impacts; I can’t imagine the chaos if it had retracted while also snapping off the wall.
​If you have active toddlers, save yourself the stress and get a solid walk-through gate instead. This one is loud when it retracts and just doesn't hold up. Definitely looking into a refund.

Disappointed – Not Toddler Proof!
