This is the definitive version of the game. It contains all the content from the gamecube original plus the Playstation 2 content. The controls are stellar, the story is great, the graphics are beautiful, and the price is great. This game set a standard in last gen video games and is still sets a standard in this one.

I love the second and third editions of the RE Series (the first RE I didn't really like the mechanics of the game, very hard to move and shoot accurately). I tried out some of the off-shoots like Dead Aim and Outbreak when they came out. Those games were enough of a change from the original format that I didn't like them as well. I was very hesitant when RE 4 came out that I didn't buy it, because I had heard that it had nothing to do with zombies or the T or G virus (what kind of Resident Evil game doesn't deal with these topics? I mean really!). I recently bought this game for the Wii because a friend begged me to. The idea that there were no zombies and no tyrants made me not want to even play the game. I had the game for three months and didn't play it once. I broke the seal today and I must say that I can't believe that I waited. Yes there are no zombies, but there might as well be. Yes it is a completely different story line then where Leon S. Kennedy left off with, but it is still engaging. Yes there are no tyrants, but of course there are huge gruesome beasts that are very hard to beat. And there are still the out-of-the-blue scary moments.
Honestly, the fact that there are no zombies makes the game! Instead of mindless slow moving easy to evade enemies, you have to deal with intelligent beings that handle weapons! They can even throw weapons, shoot arrows, and use catapults! Plus, instead of fighting no more than four zombies, once I had probably thirty guys running at me at once along with arrows flying at me! Tense!
I felt that the game was set up a million times better then Outbreak (which I tried to play yesterday and still hated). The inventory is well laid out and is an interesting concept (you can hold more stuff if you line it up right in your pack). The game also pauses when you go to your inventory screen (unlike Outbreak which I absolutely hated!).
The aiming system is great. It took me five minutes to become pretty familiar with how to draw and aim quickly and accurately unlike Dead Aim (I played Dead Aim for weeks and never really felt comfortable with it). The difference between the two is that Dead Aim changes the entire screen when you aim (your view shifts, from over your head to over your shoulder looking down your arm and it almost does a camera flash the second that you hit the draw button). RE 4 already has your crosshairs on the screen, the screen dosen't shift or flash when you draw your weapon, and with the Wii version you are only holding one button and tapping another to fire instead of holding a button to draw and firing and trying to aim with the analog stick all with the same hand.
There are puzzles that you have to figure out and they are not so complex that you get stuck and have no idea what to do next. You still can only go certain places at certain times, and there is a video phone/radio thing that shows up occasionally that gives you tips on what is coming up or what to do next, so you always basically know what to do or look for.
Of course I haven't made it all the way through the game since I only played it today, but it is so compelling that I will keep playing it until I win it. I think that the graphics are excellent for the Wii, the game mechanics are next to seamless, the story is different but still ominous and in-depth, the music is eerie, there are still puzzles to solve, and the characters are gruesome and seriously vicious. Everything that I know and love from the Resident Evil series. Give it a shot and I know that you will love this game.

This Game RULES!!!!

There are a hand full of version of Resident Evil 4 spread out on different systems but the Wii version is by far the best. The controls are spot on don't let the fact that you move with the nun chuck and aim your gun with the Wii remote scare you. There have been complaints of bad controls and camera work in other Resident Evil games but this Wii version got it right. This is a very long game and very in depth with a cool mini game to play once you beat the main game. I highly recommend it and at the price it's a steal.

I bought this for my 15 yr old as a gift for a great report card. He really likes it! And I thought the price was good.

This game is awesome. I brought the WII zapper it is great. You cannot bet the cost of this game either. The story line is good too. Since i got this game i have not stopped playing. I have even taken a day off of work to play.

Can't stop playing

This is by far the best Resident Evil game in the series and its very fun and entreating. For 20$ do not pass this up most local game stores actually charge 20$ for a used copy of this game.

I just got a Wii and was anxious to jump right into the best games after having been burned by my last purchase. I did a lot of research online and this got great reviews for playability and how much time you could put into it. New games are so expensive these days so I wanted something that would last a while. This game is like 4 yrs old, but it is awesome. Tons of action and fun puzzles to figure out how to get to the next stages. And at $20 it can't be beat.

It'll take you about 10hrs to get used to the controls, but once you do, it will feel natural and you will love it.

I thought playing "Resident Evil" would be cheesy, but it is way fun. I've heard the other games in the series aren't as good.

I have always been a fan of the Resident Evil Series, and have played all of the other Resident Evil games. I just got my Wii, and was looking for a title I was familiar with, so I could finally start playing it. At first the Wii controls were hard to use (especially when fighting numerous enemies). After getting used to the controls, it's a good game. The concept is the same as all of the other Resident Evil titles, but the Wii controls give this game an added sense of realism. The graphics (although, not up to current standards set by Xbox 360, and PS3), are great for the Wii. My favorite part about the graphics, are the fire effects. The sound on R.E 4, is great as well. The voice-overs, are nicley done, and fit the characters well. Overall, this is a great game, and one of my favorites of all time.

This game was obviously not designed for the Wii. A non-arcade style first-person shooter is hard to make work for a system with only control stick. Halo revolutionized the first-person shooter. Strafing is now a necessity, and this game doesn't support it. Game play is far too fast and active to turn all the way around with one control stick.
The one thing that would almost make up for the lack of strafing is the quick turn, but it rarely works when you want it to. Enemies often come at you from multiple angles and there's no effective way to see them all coming. While you're shooting the five zombies in front of you, three will come up behind you and chop you head off.
It's not that this isn't a great game, it's just not good on this platform. I recommend trying it on Playstation or Xbox.
