Very nice stool that's sturdy if you assemble it right. Hints:

* The short side of the wrench goes in the screw, but...
* ...even that is hard to turn. Use either vice-grips or even just wear gloves to get more leverage as you turn the screws. They are firm (but don't over-tighten)
* As others have said, first put all screws in loosely until you're sure everything lines up, then tighten.
* The little wooden screw covers need to be tapped in. A rubber mallet is ideal, but covering with a towel and tapping with a hammer should work.

Fine stool: a few tricks needed for easy assembly

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I ordered this tool. I ordered this stool because I have trouble with my back and I use it when I'm preparing things in the kitchen. It's a perfect height to utilize your counter tops to do dishes, etc. The finish is a semi gloss to a gloss. Nice smooth finish. The construction is very solid. It doesn't rock or tilt or feel unsecure. It's not a very heavy stool, but it's built very solid. The only problem that I had was the buttons that go over the screws wouldn't stay in and I wasn't going to glue them in case I had to tighten the chair at a later date.  I would definitely suggest this stool for its construction and its eye appeal.

It is very sturdy and the finsh on it is attractive and works well in my kitchen. Extremely handy as a work stool for someone with a bad bad and can not stand for long periods  doing prep work.

I love the color of the wood. It's pretty and assembly wasn't too bad.  I love the look of it. I ordered a black cushion to go on it.

Unhappy elder with Arthritis

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quality was the most important thing at the time and this product met my expectations. Could not find stool anywhere else.

Kinda of a pain to install but it's doable. Color is completely wrong. It's more of a natural, bamboo color rather than a deep Carmel, oak color. I don't recommend sitting on it longer than 30 minutes due to the lack of padding.

Solid construction, incorrect color

Very sturdy once I got it together.  The screws were very hard to get into the holes provided and the little bitty tool was very small.  Broke a nail and my hand is sore from trying to get two of the screws in place.

Sturdy but hard to assemble.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is terrible! The worst engineered piece of furniture I've ever seen! It was a nightmare to put together, even with two people and better tools than the tiny Allen wrench that was included. Whoever designed this stool has clearly never met a human being, and knows absolutely nothing about basic physics or gravity! It is way too tall to sit on, and the base is way too narrow to support itself. The second you sit on it, it starts to tip over! I couldn't believe how dangerous it ended up being once it was assembled! It's a stool that fails miserably at the one thing it was meant to do, which is be a stool!
