Revive your faded jeans during a recession with this simple dye recipe.

If your jeans have seen better days, don't throw them out just yet. With a little bit of rit denim blue dye and some simple household ingredients, you can revive them and make them look good as new.

Here's what you'll need:

1 pair of faded jeans
1/4 cup table salt
1 cup vinegar
Hot water
Rubber gloves
An old towel
A bucket or large pot
Instructions:

Fill a bucket or large pot with hot water.
Add the salt and vinegar to the water.
Stir until the salt and vinegar are dissolved.
Submerge your jeans in the dye bath.
Let the jeans soak for 30 minutes.
Rinse the jeans with cold water until the water runs clear.
Wash the jeans in the washing machine on a cold cycle.
Hang the jeans to dry.
Your jeans should now look good as new!

Tips:

Use a dye that is the same color as your jeans.
If your jeans are heavily faded, you may need to soak them for longer than 30 minutes.
Be sure to rinse the jeans thoroughly with cold water after dyeing them.
If you have any dye on your skin or clothes, wash it off immediately with soap and water.

Used this to refresh some curtains on our boat that were sun bleached in spots. It did the job!

It works

The color was exactly as described. Very pleased with my results.

It looked almost black when dying. After the wash it almost looks like I did nothing to it. The other garment is a pale blue gray after the wash, so the dye held slighty better. The other looks almost undyed.

If you don't expect much, you orobably will only be a little dissappinted.

No matter how many times you wish it the color never comes out.  And then your clothes re back to wear they started from..
