I bought this about a month ago and finally got it out of the box. Easy set up and the first time use was super easy to cut wood for a wall shelf. Bought the extra blades through Rockwell with free shipping and $10 cheaper than anyplace on the net. I haven't cut metal or ceramic yet, but should be a breeze.

I bought this lightweight saw hoping that I might be able to cut some miter corners on trim work and molding. Wow...was I surprised to discover how easy this saw is to operate and make accurate, precision cuts. My trim work looks great, and this is the first time I have ever tried to do it myself!! I love this saw!!!!

Rockwell BladeRunner X2

The BSA has a lot of rules and guidelines governing the safe use of equipment and tools. I teach woodwork merit badge and while the requirements are specific to hand tools - I have also tried introducing power tools when I can safely do so.
This saw is small enough to pack up and move from school to school and camp to camp. The blade is a jigsaw blade, and uses a guide system similar to a bandsaw. The blade itself is covered/protected almost the entire length - leaving the boys to concentrate on cutting and keeping both hands on their workpiece.

Of course, I need the saw to go about 1/2" higher in order to completely cut pinewood derby cars - but normally I am using stock with less height.

Assembly takes about 5 minutes. Since we are packing 5 of these with us - we disassemble/assemble each saw at each event. Assembly is so easy - the volunteers are comfortable setting up the tools with minimal supervision.

The only issue I have had is where the miter attachment is stored. It sticks out from under the base just enough that I am afraid that we will break/bend one during our moves.

I've been so impressed, I currently own 5 units. It's quite the cool factor to see a line of 5 of these saws beings used by students at an activity.

First saw I can use with Scouts

I bought this for my father for fathers day and in one week, we have used this saw almost daily. There are so many uses and with the simple, blade changing design, it makes projects easier and actually fun! I would highly recommend this to any home owner as well as contractors.

Useful and Fun!

I am just getting back into wood working and needed a versatile saw. The BladeRunner X2 is easy to set up and ready to use within minutes of opening the box. Don't let it's size fool you. It can handle everything from plywood to diminsion lumber. The rip fence is accurate and solid. The dust port works great and really helps keep the shop clean. The blades change quick and easy. This also makes a great scroll saw.

Good things come in small packages

Was looking for a smaller, hobby saw and came across this. It is well made and very easy to use. The fence is solid and you can adjust it front to back to achieve a square cut. Make sure you secure it or it will vibrate significantly. And the stock needs to be help firmly as well. It's an upside-down jigsaw. But made well, very light and very portable.

Once I got my Blade Runner I just had to try it out, at first I was pleased, but I had some concerns in the alignment of the unit. There are no Instructions for troubleshooting problems. The unit was having a problem with ripping wood. Once to the rear bar you had to force or loosen the bar for the wood to pass through, (Alignment was out a 1/16th). At this point I wrote to what I thought was support from the Rockwell Website. 2 weeks still no answer so I called, my issues were handled immediately where to make alignment adjustments. Now that every thing is in alignment I love this Blade Runner, well worth the money. I use it everyday.

All about the cuts.

While I had high hopes for this saw, it let me down in one way, when sawing thicker material (as in match cutting some odd shapes from 2 plys of 3/4" plywood) the blade does not stay perpendicular to the table. Several cuts although both were straight but meeting at a 45 degree angle were not square and required me to go back and dress up the cut angles. Other than that I love the light weight portability and have been using it extensively since I got it.

Not (too) disapointed

I bought this to handle a few small craft projects. It is adequate for that purpose. It appears to be built and designed for example exactly that purpose. I cannot see it being used for very large projects. Accuracy is good but not excellent. Precision cuts are difficult.

My biggest complaint is with the instructions for both assembly (pictures only) and use (non existant).

Adequate for small projects

People may not understand but all my life I've always bought very professional tools. And I've always considered Rockwell to be professional tools but in this case this sod is Cheesy. The guard mechanism is flimsy plastic, the blade changing method is a nightmare to try and install the blade which should be very easy per directions.
I have tried to cut a very fine piece of trim against a fence it was unusable. I don't believe from my experience that you actually could cut tile on the saw. I own three wet saws.
This switch and the arm separator when doing ripping on long pieces of board.These are good features.
