Played with some friends last minute. As a collective in our mid-30's, we were a little overly confident in the minigames and told ourselves we needed to take BIG steps to make the games more reasonable “for adults.” Suddenly we learned how uncoordinated we really were and how hilarious it was to be either observers or participants in the games. Overall very fun and simple game, would be great for kids and adults alike, and provides inspiration for additional ideas on minigame challenges.

Hot take -- I never really liked the game of War. Felt a bit like a playing card version of Monopoly. Endless swings of fortune and I never knew, short of total domination and possessing all of the cards, how to end the game.Roly Poly Goalie totally changes that! To start, the four action cards bring a physical element to this sedentary game. I always wished for ties -- for wars -- but with RPG we were all begging to tie so we could whip the squishy balls at each other, futilely try to knock the ball of the box, and strategically go through the wickets. Having a set end to the game (after completing all the action cards and then totaling up points) solved the endlessness of regular War.At first we were worried that with only four numbers we would be having wars all of the time. Shockingly, this wasn't the case -- but we do still wonder why there weren't at least a few more numbers (or just a regular set of cards -- perhaps the Jacks, Queens, Kings, and Aces could have triggered other ridiculous challenges! Of course, now that we have the basic structure of the game we can certainly use a standard deck and see how that plays out.That said, we plan to modify a few of the action challenges. Knocking the ball off the box proved to hard (when we only counted direct hits on the ball) -- so maybe we make this a bit more like Angry Birds and count when the ball knocks down the box -- or better yet, if we were to build a tower for the ball. And the final challenge we found a bit too easy (using our heads only to roll a ball over the final card). Instead, we might throw in a few obstacles or waypoints to also cross in sequence (or when we are playing as a team, make it a relay).We also found ourselves wishing for a few more of the action challenges -- they are far and away the best part of the game. The game would be better, in our opinion, with no repetition of the actions -- instead have a few more in total, but have each challenge be unique.But that's what is kind of perfect about the game -- there are so many ways to scale it up or down, to add more challenges, or to modify the existing challenges to fit our crowd. I'd have loved a few blank action cards to allow us to make up challenges and easily let them get shuffled in. This is a minor hiccup, though, and one that we can certain overcome.Overall, this game was a massive hit. I'm a teacher and we played during an activity period at school -- fifth grade through eighth graders loved played in mixed groups. We started as a group of four and before the period ended we had twelve active players and the rest of the class watching and cheering. Becareful where you play -- make sure you can have these missiles ricocheting around the room!

Game Changing Spin on War

The game was very enjoyable to play. I had a lot of fun playing it. You might want a bigger playing space with no breakables because there is throwing and heading (like in soccer) the ball. The game length was just right. It was very easy to learn because it has a bunch of the same rules as the card game "War", so if you already know how to play that, they just added energy and movement to it. I would recommend this for kids who are in first or second grade up to grownups depending on the grownup's personality. I don't think two grownups would play it together but it is a good game for kids and grownups to play together. The cards are easy to read. Fun, Energetic, Exciting Game!

This was a really fun card game with physical activities that incorporated movement and a lot of laughs. It was very simple to play, but had added instructions for each physical activity that kept it interesting. The balls are very soft and easy to throw, not causing any damage when I was hit in the forehead by my overachieving adult son!

Fun Game

This game is like 4-5 games in one. BUT!!!!! It doesn't have so many rules that you get confused and keep having to check the manual. There is a larger game with 4 mini games inside of it that keep players from feeling tired of the same thing every turn. Certain battles are definitely more challenging than other ones, but nothing competes with “HOLY MOLY ROLY POLY,” the final battle. My only critique of this final showdown would be that it could be a little too challenging for older individuals to participate in that one. My mom didn't exactly want to get on all fours. LOL. But for the average player and DEFINITELY for the young ones, this game is an absolutely BLAST! 10/10! I recommend it!

DOES NOT GET BORING!!!!

It's like war but with Mario Party style mini games where the war happens. It's very much catered as a family game especially with younger kids. As a small group of adults, it was still pretty entertaining to watch your friends crawl all over the floor and show off their terrible lack of hand eye coordination. I think there's a lot of potential for this even as adults or incorporating some drinking game aspects, if there were more mini creative games with different point levels, especially as the battle cards look a lot like drink coasters. Overall fun twist, that's honestly a lot of fun both as an observer and a champion

Very Cute Spin on a Classic Card Game

This game is immensely silly. The main gameplay is the card game War, where you and an opponent place cards at the same time, and the one with the higher number takes both. However, when the same cards are played, a “Roly Poly” battle takes place, using the cute round squishies that come with the game. Make sure you play this either outside, or in an area with a LOT of space. The roly polys are squishy, but are apt to get chucked across the room.I played this game both the real way, but also with my 2-year-old daughter. She is far too young to play the game for real, but it was still so much fun for her to tell me the numbers and the colors on the cards, and roll the roly polys across the floor. Definitely recommend for any age group!

Silly fun for all ages

I can't believe how much this game had me reminiscing about my childhood yet laughing at the cute twists, and the ultimate, final battle in this game of war is by far the most entertaining part! While this game is made so you can play on teams with others, I still think a good classic game of war is best for 2 players... unless you add some house rules ;D It's seriously like Throw Throw Burrito and War had a baby, and I love it! I can't wait to play it with my nephew!

Rolling with the Poly

This is a fun and quick game for families with little kids. There are some directions that aren't perfectly clear but people should be capable of filling in those spots. The balls are cute and amazing to hold. It's nice that teams don't have to be even and if someone drops out it doesn't disturb the game. Overall, it's got a clear design & we liked its simplicity.

Great game for families with little kids

Roly Poly Goalie is based on the common card game of “War” so it's super easy to pick up & learn. The war challenges are where it becomes different. When you get to that point, there are physical challenges you draw from a pile. Winner takes all cards. Coordination is helpful but not required so little kids can get as much fun out of it as adults. Definitely a fun one to add to the rotation. I received this game to test & give an honest review.
