I have 3 different Rubbermaid baskets and this is my favourite. It's sturdy construction allows me to carry it with one hand while opening doors or turning on lights. This is a case of bigger is not always better. I fit through doors with this basket. The large version makes doorways a struggle.

Strong, durable and it holds a lot! It's comfortable to hold is it hugs my hips hence the name. It also has grips on the handles so it doesn't easily slip out of your hands! Great color blue.

I have only ever used these baskets, now having moved I bought some more, also bought them for wedding gifts (I fill them with towels, toilet paper, etc)

bought two on sale for about $8ea. size sufficient for a single person use. suggest buying this over the cheapest one.

fairly firm handles and form

Not expecting much from a laundry basket... think about it!
Unfortunately, this unit cracked at the handle within 2 weeks of purchase... now doesn't support much weight and appears that it'll fall apart shortly... not what I expect from Rubbermaid.

DIsappointed

This is my second one.  First one broke at middle handle.  Now, this one is also failing.  RM needs to strengthen at this point.  Don't know if I'll try a third.  Would like to hear from RM if they are doing anything to solve this problem.  Other than that, I like basket very much.

Like but handle breaks

ACTUALLY, I THOUGHT THIS LOOKED LIKE A GOOD IDEA AS I HAVE TO WALK FROM MY BASEMENT UP A LONG FLIGHT OF STEPS AND THEN THROUGH A COUPLE OF ROOMS TO MY OUTSIDE DOOR WHERE I HANG MY CLOTHES IN THE BACK YARD. I COULD FEEL THE EASE OF CARRYING IT BUT I HAVE TO ADMIT, I AM ON MY THIRD BASKET AS THE HANDLES BREAK VERY VERY EASY AND THEN THE HARD PLASTIC IS CUTTING MY HANDS ALL UP AND THE BASKET IS SLIPPING AND SCRATCHING ME EVERYWHERE AND IT HURTS SO I AM ACTUALLY TIRED OF WASTING MY MONEY ON THESE CHEAP PLASTIC BASKETS. I HAVE TWO WITH BROKEN HANDLES AS I SPEAK AND I AM ON MY THIRD BASKET. I KNOW THAT I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANYMORE OF THESE UNLESS THEY ARE BUILT BETTER THAN THEY ARE. LAUNDRY DAY IS ONE OF MY ENJOYMENTS AS I LOVE HANGING OUT MY LAUNDRY WITH PRIDE BUT NOW IT IS A PAIN AND I MEAN THAT LITERALLY.

THE RUBBERMAID HIP HUGGER LAUNDRY BASKET

I bought this laundry basket just a few months ago - and already all the handles are broken leaving sharp points. Also - once the handles break - the basket is completely unstable and collapses whenever you try to lift it - which makes it pretty much impossible to use. Very poor quality.

I bought this product because i always carry things on my hips, my thought was "what a great idea" but ALL the handles have broken within 6 months so without handles it really doesn't work very well, I will not buy this product again....

Hip hugger style is great for carrying laundry up and down the steps and through doorways. The 1.5 bushel size is perfect, only complaint is handles break. I have to replace them yearly and they are hard to find in stores. My wife is going to try Gorilla Glue, please help.
