My wife and I recently sold our old home and bought another. I had installed the Rubbermaid system in the old garage. The first thing I did In the new home install the same system again. The basket is one of the handiest parts of the system for my car wash equipment. I love the whole Rubbermaid system.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was exactly what I wanted.  But I felt it was somewhat overpriced.

Heavy duty, with a dulled (not shiny) aluminum color.  Good storage size, would collect/show little dust.

I am seriously pleased with every Fast Track Product I have in my garage except that when I tried to order my second mesh basket the only thing available is this new wire design. This is an "upgrade" I really don't understand. This basket is meant to hold small things and the new design has big gaps so we have our small gardening items sticking out of holes and even falling out of the basket. The old mesh basket design was far superior in function and aesthetics. I called Rubbermaid and they don't have any of the old ones and according to the lady I talked to they don't know how to find them. If anyone has an old basket I'll trade you two of the new baskets for one of the old.

New Design is Garbage

We also had the fastrack system at a previous house and decided to install it again at our new house. The previous baskets were great. The new design is horrible. These new baskets DO NOT sit horizontally, even when installed correctly. Installing them correctly means they angle UP! Installing them incorrectly, they angle DOWN. NEITHER way achieves a level basket! We bought 3 of these baskets - ALL of which are being returned to the store this week. This is a huge disappointment because we were looking forward to using them. Also, the wires have TOO MUCH SPACE! Garden tools fall through - which is the most obvious use for these baskets!! Come on! Fire the person that designed these baskets and try again!

Very Disappointing

I agree with most of the other reviews. The old version of this product, with the grippers attached hung on to the wall much better. These new grippers pop off when a reasonable amount of weight is placed in the basket. I understand Rubbermaid wanting to use the new gripper design, but sorry, for this application (basket) it does not work nearly as effective as the old version. It's "reinforced security" as the description says, until just three pairs of shoes are placed in the basket, then it pops open! Bring the old style back!

Not as good as the only version!

Agree with the previous post. The mesh design looked more functional. The new wire design did not hold items very well. I ended up taking it down and returned it for a refund. Will look on the internet to see if I can find the old mesh design.

Took it back

I have to say this is a great idea and I have loved every single fast track system I have used. I just framed my entire garage in fast track. The baskets are only usable for larger items and bottles. I had the intention of using them for my small cycling gear and odds and ends, but everything fall out. I understand the reason behind the change (I bet material cost and margins), but I would have gladly spent ten bucks more to cover the extra material cost to have a mesh basket that I could use. Just returned 12 of these things.
