Putting Together

Meh. It's just blow molded plastic that snaps together. Feels cheap. The instructions recommend putting  sand in the bottom piece to give it some weight. I got some sand from the Wally World garden section that had gotten damp and was a pain to get into the bottom. Dry sand is key. Felt like the pieces would be prone to unsnap so I used Liquid Nails on all the joints and feel that it really stiffened it up. It's been raining cats and dogs but it appears that everything inside is dry. Still raining so I didn't pull everything out, just opened the lid. Holds a whole bag of charcoal, two small bags of wood chips, and my large grill cover. Probably designed to hold two bags of charcoal.

It keeps water out _really_ well, but the latch/tab/lock on the top seats so well that half the time I have to take the box apart to get the lid open, which is not super efficient and is extremely frustrating. There's just nothing locking the side pieces into the bottom so if you pull it's coming up.

Good and Bad

Looks like the box had been previously opened and taped shut. And to no ones surprise, I was missing a piece...it was the bottom, which holds the whole thing together. Now, I am going to have to return it and get a new one, which annoys me to no end!

Missing Pieces

I bought this to use as a delivery package bin for my front stoop. I live in a very windy area and my stoop is very open so filling the base with sand was necessary and also very tedious through the small hole provided.  The bin has not budged and the weather has not affected it.  The only thing I don't like is that the lid is very difficult to open when it is shut completely. I don't want my delivery drivers to be detered from using the bin because it doesn't open easily, so I don't shut it completely.  Even with the lid not sealed, I have not had any water get into the bin.  It is also VERY roomy. My mail carrier put a very large box inside the bin because it was raining out. I was shocked that it fit because I had only intended it for small packages that may blow away. Very happy I got this.

Perfect size to hold 2 bags of charcoal & has a flat top to sit items on.

Deck box

I'm going to have to take another look at it because maybe I don't have it all snapped in tightly.  The sides just "sit" on the bottom, nothing to hold them on the bottom so when you close the upper lid, which closes so tight that it takes some UMPH to pull it open, when you finally PULL it open the sides come lose and everything pulls up off the floor and falls apart.  Again, this may be user error so I'll look at it again when I can.  

Otherwise, if I can get things to fit tightly and  not come apart, it's a great little container for a grill.

Falls apart

Just recently purchased both the 74 gal sized roughly sized 34"×28"×26", and the 134 gal sized roughly 56"×28"×27" deck boxes in the walnut shade with basket weave printed resin. The 74 gal was fairly easy to assemble, total time took about 45 minutes. There was a few minuses, one sidewall pin issue where the drill hole was not fully removed for pins insertion, and the metal truss support holes for the lid were 98% aligned from left to right. This proved to be a little challenging in both cases but with a rubber mallet and drill with drillbit was eventually able to rectify both issues. The 134 gal has not been able to be completely assembled unfortunately upon attempting to unfold the side panels to prepare to lock the flooring into the wall grooves, no different than the 74 gal assembly, the side panel completely broke at the folded seam. 2 thumbs down on this problem as no other portion of the assembly can or should be completed at this point. Additionally this issue causes heavy concerns for the longevity of the weatherability of the 74 gal that is successfully assembled. The placement for both units will include 8-10+ hrs full sun with temperatures in the summer 100+, as well as heavy spring rains/storms, and some super windy autumns, in addition to a few freeze opportunities in winter. Currently not sure whether to return both the items entirely or request replacement parts for the 134 gal. Since I have just purchased and have encountered mixed experiences one fairly positive, the other horrible with the products, I will have to think about it.

this has been the slowest delivery.  3 weeks to arrive.  once it arrived and put together it was of a good size and stability. I ordered 2 - 1 for the BBQ and 1 to put grass seed in.

This box does not stay together by itself. I had to reinforce it with plastic straps and rivets in order to keep it from falling apart easily. I was very disappointed that a Rubbermaid product was so poorly designed and constructed.

Does not live up to Rubbermaid‘s reputation.
