This is a cute and very functional trash can. Lightweight and durable. Lid is easy to open and close. However yes the lid does make a noise but nothing too crazy. Easy to maintain and clean. This is a good trash bin.

At first I was like many others who had difficulty keeping the lids closed - one day it 'dawned' on me that after repeatedly pushing the open lid 'button', it would stretch and bend down slightly, just enough so the lid would start to pop open....I pushed up front underneath slightly, and wala!!  it works again.  I've had my trash bin for over 3 years and think it is the best one I have ever owned.  And the best part for me, if my dog can no longer get into the trash!

I don't like the fact that the lid doesn't work well but, other than that I like it. Just don't want to go through taking it back etc. I think for the price it should be more durable and work much better than it does

Lid keeps popping open

I was sort of reluctant to buy this when I saw how the latch opened and closed, but I decided to hinge my decision on the great brand name and lack of options. Big mistake! After only a month of use, the lid won't catch anymore, so the can stands open all the time. I bought this trash can because it looked nice, so instead I'm staring at my trash and regretting my purchase.

Would be great - if the latch worked

Liner-Lock feature sounds like a good idea but is a complete failure in the real, physical world. One or more of the the tabs that hold Liner-Lock arms in place gets broken. It may be that the circumference of the rim is too large, as the opening of the 13-gallon bag is barely large enough to fit over the arms, placing the arms under too much tension, with the result being  1) the lid doesn't quite close because the arms are pulled in and therefore pivot up slightly, and 2) one or more of the tabs that holds hold the armes in place break off

I was so excited for this trash can when I purchased it for our new home. I liked that I didn't have to stare at my garbage all the time since it had the handy lid. Boy, was I wrong. The latch NEVER stays shut and my trash bags with the drawstrings do not fit. I've tried bending the latch different ways to help it stays and nothing works. Waste of money.

Horrible

The size of the trash can is great, the features also great... unfortunately, the features don't work very well. Trash bag stays in place with the liner lock, BUT the most annoying thing is the lid not staying closed. You can play with the plastic piece that holds the lid closed all day long, and it may work in the beginning. But eventually, the lid will stay open unless you place a paper weight on top of it. I'm about to throw this trash container in the trash!

Side note, this product is so poorly made, it's not even listed as a discontinued item on Rubbermaid's website. Says a lot...

Stay away!

It serves its purpose as a holder of trash, but if you are anything like me and like to have a trash can that has a lid that stays closed to hold in smells, than this trash can is not for you. The lid does not stay closed, it pops open at random and I find myself constantly shutting it only to have it pop right back open as I walk away. Will be investing in a new and different trash can.

You get what you pay for

I am returning this because the lid does not stay shut. The manufacturer focuses on the handy features of the lid but it has a definite design flaw. I tried to fix it w/o any luck. I'm a mechanical engineer so needless to say, purchasing this item would be a lost cause.
