This game is nearly perfect in every way.

1. Price. Only $30.00 is an unbelievable price for such a great game.

2. Multiple skills to level up.

3. Large variety of weapons.

4. Non cookie cutter family characters.

5. Nice story, especially with an E rating. Though if made more T it probably would have been better.

6. Not just farming and battling. You can do almost anything from, crafting, smithing, fishing, cooking, magic, mining, and much more.

7. Beautiful world artwork. Those who played FF7 will flash back to this.

8. My game lagged during two big boss battles, even with that short lag it still takes nothing away from it.

9. Every cave is different with its own climate for planting crops, grass, flowers, etc.

10. Monsters. You can capture monsters for a variety of reasons. They can work on your farm saving you loads of time, provide you with milk, honey, etc., or they can battle along side you.

RPG fans or anyone who thinks this game sounds interesting, get it! This is an excellent game that I fill beats out alot of next-gen games.

I am a veteran of the harvest moon series. I played the n64 version, and the GBA version. This game is largely similar to each of its predecessors. If you enjoyed any previous Harvest Moon games, you will certainly enjoy this one. Some added benefits of this game are the addition of "monsters/dungeon crawling". Unlike previous harvest moon games, you can go fighting in addition to just having a farm. While this game can get repetitive, it is for the most part very fun.

Pros: Same wholesome fun as previous iterations of the series, touch controls are nice for farm management, addition of dungeon crawling,

Cons: Not terribly difficult, can be repetitive, monsters/dungeons not very hard.

Bottom Line: If you enjoyed any of the previous games in the series, this game is a welcome experience with new additions that the DS system can provide.

Fun game to play anytime

My fiance bought this game after seeing me play it for few days. It's very addicting.
I have previously played Harvest Moon on Gamecube - and this is not like the other game I have played. (I did love the other also.) Instead of being a normal game, where most everything is about farming, there's also an RPG element involved. Farming is key to surviving and advancing in the game - but you also must "adventure" through caves in order to advance.

All-in-all, a wonderful RPG. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys RPG's, and would like something a little different.

Great game!

I've been playing the Harvest Moon series for as long as I can remember. Every incarnation of it has proven to me that a game doesn't have to be violent or lewd to be great. I found myself engrossed in the world and I love the option to draw on the screen, it's a great way to inspire creativity. Storyline wise, this game is awesome. There is much to do, much to discover, and much to learn. The most beautiful aspect of this game, however, is a chance to be what YOU want to be. If you want to be a farmer, fine, you can be. If you want to drink a lot, that's okay, too. Or, if you're like me, you farm for about, oh, thirty minutes game time and then you walk around town a bit and get to know your town and its inhabitants. The fighting aspect, while not particularly innovative, is still awesome and reminds me slightly of the game Ragnarok. The possibilities are endless! See if you can find everything there is to do. Challenge yourself and you'll find that this game is charming, fun, and overall a great game. Two thumbs way up!

Fun For All Ages.

After playing EVERY version of this game for every system, this game is fun. It in corrupts the farming skills of all the Harvest Moon games before it. But now you have more things to accomplish. The creatures are more fun to fight, but the bosses are more of a Zelda type. All Harvest Moon gamers should try this game.

Fun Product

Great gift.

With a ton of stuff to do, its a pretty good game. You get alot more then you paid for, but maybe Natsume wanted to surprise buyers with it.
However it comes at a price of repeating itself over and over again. Getting up, watering your garden, and taking care of the animals. Then going into a dungeon and killing stuff simply to level up, and to mine.
Even with abit of story involved this game is pretty straight-forward and mind-numbingly repetitive like the other Harvest Moon games. All in all, its a pretty good game with little replay value (assuming you go through the game once).

Fun but....ehh...

I have enjoyed this game so far. I have had it for about 2 weeks and am addicted. There are some fairly time consuming aspects with harvesting the crops that gets boring after awhile. But over all the game is quite addicting. You are dropped in a town with amnesia and have to earn a living with harvesting, fishing, and exploring caves that have monsters to kill. It takes a lot of labor with all the tasks to get farther in the game. I am on level 18 with I would guess many more levels to go. I have found it fun and addicting in spite of the repetitive tasks that you can get monsters to help you with after you befriend them. I am a female and one thing I don't like is that the main character is a male--would be nicer for me if I could have chosen it to be a male or a female. But I would recommend it.

Addicting game

It's an interesting game. It has alot of the farming elements of the classic Harvest Moon games, though missing alot as well.

The game can be insanely difficult at first, especially before you buy a sword. Using a hoe to kill goblins is harder than you'd think. Later it become easy, too easy actually, you can mostly just get really close to the monster generators and slash away til it dies, sometimes even before one monster comes out of it.

The one thing truely wrong with this game, is that they don't have the huge amount of social events that the Harvet Moon series is known for. You very rarely come into a room and learn more about one of the other characters, the only time they tell you anything, is just outta no where when you are talking to them.

It's a good game overall though, just lacking in a few areas you'd expect from a Harvest Moon game. The sequel should be alot better when it comes out over here.

Farming, Murder, Friendship, and Mariage

I got this because it was by the makers of harvest moon but while it is simular there are diffrences that actually make this quite a boring game, you actually have to comleat quest, purchase weponry and fight monsters. Its like zelda and harvest moon got mixed together. I ended up ignoring it for months and my little brother found it and loves it (who previously was an avid harvestmoon hater) he wants the second one but im not buyin' it.
