Loved everything about the machine with the exception of threading. To thread you have to put your hand close to the needle, but the space is very tight, and I have small hands. 
Everything else is excellent and durable
 I am 70, and sew alot for homeless people and I hope this will be my last machine.

disclosure. i am a begginner sewer. ok. so you were learning on a smaller machine ( i started with m2100 series) n decided to upgrade right ? well. be prepared! its pretty awesome. aside for ainger vids which are great check out sewing mastery on you yube. i learned so much ! makes using this a breeze! and my i er all experience way more pleasant. 
i been learning for about a yr. and ao many cuss words iln pilles of thread and hrs wasted cuase i should of watched the videos. even on a small machine im sure youll do so much better. ! 
anyway. husband has me make iton palm bags and backpack straps so i needed a hvy duty machine. this does not disappoint. 
singer... please update your videos as some are hard to see very detailed ex auto threader which is amazing! thank you for having that feature! 
all in all. as i teach my daughter n son how to sew and mend. if they want one i will definitely get them one of thier own.

i love it.

I paid an exorbitant amount of money for a "good" sewing machine a few years ago. Everytime, I try to use it, there's a  problem. This machine that was around $200. out performs the old one. No, problems that can't be easily solved. I can print the full manual off the website, as it doesn't come with it. There is a diagram that I use everytime, to make sure the thread rolls in the right direction. Very easy to use.  I highly recommend this product.

I grew up learning and using a Sunger machine and love it. They work thru all types of fabric smoothly and easily. It's easy to learn how to thread and do the bobbins and use quickly.

Love me a Singer!

I bought the Singer 44S for my son to work on his hobby projects, and it has exceeded our expectations. The build quality is excellent; it feels sturdy and handles various fabrics without a hitch.
What really stands out is how easy it is to use. My son was able to dive right in, and the results speak for themselves. Since getting it, he has successfully altered a pair of jeans, several T-shirts, and dress shirts for himself. He even made a dress for his girlfriend!
The machine handled the heavy denim of the jeans just as smoothly as the lighter fabric of the dress with no issues at all. It’s a fantastic, reliable machine for anyone looking to get serious about sewing. Highly recommended.

Perfect "Workhorse" for a Budding Hobbyist!

Smooth working and simple to learn to use!

1st Singer for me

The machine is heavy duty. I have a juki but can not get pant leg over the arm. This machine they fit perfect with room to spare. 

It is a great machine for beginners and experienced. It has no bells and whistles. Just essential  program. All manual. Has a needle threader manual. The tension and width are manual. Easy bobbin maker. About 25 stitch settings. Maybe more.  

I used it to hem and alter a satin gown. No problem with settings no bobbin issue. 

Recommend this machine

This is a sturdy, economically-priced sewing machine. I had a Singer  (no treadle) machine in the 1950s and I loved it. It had a major threading advantage over the model I am reviewing here. Maybe I was smarter in those days but  I threaded both top and bottom with ease in those days, whereas it took me quite a while to get the top  'lying-down' spool threaded properly.  Another difficulty I had concerned threading the needle. Such a tiny hole to push a thin thread through! It took me over an hour before I succeeded. Granted my nearly-ninety year old eyes are not at their sharpest any more but, please! why can't machine needles have long eyes, in the manner of embroidery sewing needles? Were I even twenty years younger, I am confident I would have awarded this machine ten out of ten.

Good for sharp-eyed sewers.

I spent all day trying to correct the tension.  I downloaded the manual, watched videos,  tried changing the thread, the needle, material etc. but nothing was working.  
The reason  I purchased a new machine because the tension was getting bad on my 45 year old Kenmore so after much frustration with this new machine I returned to Walmart and purchased a Brother at half the price and she is running like a charm.

Tension Issues

Problems right out of the box.  The bobbin provided appears to be warped.  I thought it felt flimsy, but  loaded it according to instructions.   Struggled with the machine all day.  Broke 3 needles which I have never done in 50 years of sewing.  Put in new bobbin, new needle, sew along fine and suddenly will develop a rats nest off the back side.  Could not get tension right.  Thread breaking, bobbin making a mess.  Have never struggled with a machine this much.  Will be returning.
