[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My old sewing machine (over 50 years old) broke and I could not find a repair shop.  I went online and the WalMart website was easy to navigate.  The price was fair and when I started to read the directions, I was able to operate it easily.  Singer sewing machines have been in my family for generations, so I know they are high quality.

I purchased this machine to replace previous one which would have cost more to fix then the cost of this machine.  I don't sew as much as before, but needed a machine to make the drapes for spare bedroom

This makes my second machine. I am hard on sewing machines and have gone through many in my life time. I got 8 years out of the last machine which was a record amount of time. I was so happy to see I could still purchase this machine and I have been using it daily since my purchase. Well worth the money and would be a great starter machine for beginners.

Great Machine

I just started sewing again after 20 years. This sewing machine is easy to thread and is very light weight. This is a perfect machine for the home sewer.

This sewing machine is super easy to use and a great fit for beginners. It has simple controls with clear buttons, so you can quickly learn the basics of sewing.

You'll find different stitch options, like straight and zigzag stitches, which lets you try out different styles. Plus, it's lightweight and portable, so you can easily take it anywhere.

Easy to use, great for begginers

I used my Great grandmother's 1880's Singer treadle sewing machine and all its many attachments for 70 years last year when I had to sell my larger home, to move into a much smaller home.  Until recently, I didn't need a new machine, and started looking into what was affordable, and available.  Walmart offered different types, but when I found Singer brand, I looked into ratings, then price I could afford.  I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived.  Of course it was new fangeled to me, so I paid close attention to the directions sent with it.  It took a little time, and soon I was ready to start stitching.  A week or two later I received an offer from Singer to purchase a really nice case at a good price.  One review said my new machine wouldn't fit, but it fits perfectly.

Works really well

Like: Worked as promised. Once set up, it is simple to operate. Stable. Stitch selection is simple. Easy to use. Attractive design. Ordering was simple. delivered on tine, in perfect condition.

Drawbacks: Did not come with operating manual, which made initial set up rather challenging.     
Lack of instructions makes learning impossible.

This is the best purchase of the year.  It's a heck of a deal with really good features. I thought the automatic needle threader was a marvelous idea but I don't use it as much as I thought I would. The bobbin is so easy to change that I care if the colors match.

The "self threader" is nearly impossible to use. It is confusing and directions are negligible.  Fat fingers can't use it. My husband finally figured it out, for him. He is still trying to do it easily after a dozen tries over several months.  But he needs to thread the machine for me. This machine is designed for very young users but not for us seniors. Other than that, it is a good machine, once one gets it treaded! The stiches are well handled. I really appreciate the top loading bobbin. After using it off and on for a few months, I do like it, except for the threading mechanism.

Bad "self threader", otherwise good machine
