My 4 star was due to my idea that there are probably better ones for more money!

I may not be the best judge in that this is my first belt sander but it totally did the job I had to do. Having one I am sure I will get to use it further and I have a son-in-law that is excited to have access to one while renovating his house.  The sander was easy to operate and replace the belts.

I know understand why one needs a belt sander.

A good little mill! Helped us sand our deck in prep for new paint this year. Worked excellent. Easy to Load. The dust collector is so so, but in general we have been very happy with it. So far, i can happily say we would buy it over again and that's the most important bit of feedback I can give..,,No regret :-)

good little workhorse of a sander

Upon first use of this sander, operating in the green range, it quit working as I started on the second board.  It sounded like it was bogging down, but again, I was putting next to no pressure on the sander, letting the tool do the work it was designed to do.  After contacting Skil, they required I take the sander to one of their certified repair services.  However, the repair shop could not get to the repair work for 10-12 weeks.  This defeated the entire reason I bought the tool.  After contacting Skil once again, following their inquiry to my satisfaction of their service, and expressing my displeasure of the process, they eventually sent me a new tool.

Disappointed - but problem eventually resolved.

The drive belt snapped after a week of use. Your warranty procedure is totally unacceptable. Drive 12 miles and wait two weeks for repair. Will not be purchasing another Skil product, sorry I purchased this one.

Stay away

Failed after 13 months with light use.  You turn it on and it would do nothing...light goes on but nothing else.  I called support and they said your out of luck since it had a 1 year warranty.  So, it went into the trash because it would cost more to fix it than get a new one.  I will never buy Skil again.
