This is a replacement DVD player for another one I had that was a different brand, so I don't know if it's the "upscale" feature or that it's brand new, but the picture is WAY better than the one I had!
And psst... I did a little online research of this player from other retailers websites and found that this is the lowest price (beats A by around $6) so I'd highly suggest buying it from here!
Oh and just a tip in case you didn't already know.. you can get DVD laser cleaning disks that keep the picture clear, eliminate disc-sticking and extend the play life of the unit ...they're pretty inexpensive too!

The Sony DVD PLAYER with Remote, cable for TV hookup and batteries was a great buy.
It has all the features on the remote to operate the functions of the DVD PLAYER and the TV. I was surprised that I did not have to program the remote to the TV.
I was thinking of purchasing another for myself or it would make a great Christmas gift. Good value and can't go wrong with the quality of the Sony brand.

Sony DVD PLAYER GREAT BUY

So far I have been very pleased with this purchase! I bought it three months ago when my other DVD player kicked the bucket. I was right in the middle of binge watching a boxed set of DVDs so I thought I'd give this one a try. So far three months and still going strong using it very often sometimes even for hours at a time. It is also very small which I like, it's about 11 inches across and about 1.4  inch from top to bottom. It is also as light as a feather. I was very surprised how superior the picture quality is to the other DVD player I had before this. I was unfamiliar with what quote "upscaling" means, but in a nutshell the upscaling makes it possible to get the best picture quality that your TV is capable of producing. I noticed it made a wonderful difference using the 4K TV.  Super user-friendly interface and extremely easy to use and set up is a breeze . So far a great purchase and I would highly recommend!

Movie time 😁

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 3 other Sony DVD players - same model - and they worked beautifully until recently, but I had them a few years and they are used every day for hours a day, so I wasn't surprised when they died. Things don't live forever. So I bought 2 more to replace them. I had recently bought a Panasonic DVD player, but it did not have a memory that holds beyond removing the disk. Very inconvenient if you need to stop watching a movie and then want to go back to it later after taking it out of the machine. The Sony picks up right where you left off, even if you take the disk out and put it back a week later. That's the only reason I would not recommend the Panasonic. Both Sony and Panasonic have excellent picture and sound quality, but the Panasonic lacks the memory.

received this item in a nicely packed box that was in good shape. When I opened it I found a badly crushed box containing the dvd player and wondered if it would be damaged. Almost took it back to the store that way but needed to put it to use. it is working at this time so must be a tough little thing. Very surprised Walmart would ship such a damaged box. Remember the outside box was undamaged. Very surprised they would pack such a damaged box at the warehouse may think twice about online and Walmart.

I'm not particularly tech savvy, but did my due diligence as best I could. I searched product details and reviews to see if it plays Blu-ray. Half our movies are Blu-ray. I saw no warning that it didn't, so purchased. It won't play any Blu-ray. Smooth play and easy operation of the other movies. No volume control unlike our old LG DVD player.

Bought it some months ago and it played the DVD I put in but would not eject. Sony tech attempted to help but was not helpful. Suggested I send it in or take it back to where I bought it. 
Well it still had my DVD stuck in it. The DVD is one of my all time favorites, so, cant get player replaced when still can't get DVD out even though I attempt it every now and then. 
Perfect Catch 22. 
Don't take a chance on buying it unless you don't mind losing your DVD
I could break it open and just take the loss of the player but hope one day it will function.
