A 5.5qt cocotte is probably the most popular size due to its versatility. Great for all your soups, stews and chili but can also hold a whole chicken and a large roast. If you only buy one cast iron pot this one will give you an exceptional cooking experience every time. Staub cast iron is surrounded by 3 layers on enamel on the interior and 3 layers of a beautiful glaze on the exterior. No need to season these pots and they can even go in the dishwasher if necessary. Interior is slightly textured for a perfect brown or sear and easy release. The lids have continuous basting beads for a consistently moist environment during cooking. No wonder restaurants prefer to cook in Staub. This pot will not disappoint.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I ordered the ice blue 5.2L Cocotte. The color is gorgeous! My package came very quickly and it was packed with great care. The pot arrived in excellent condition. The lid was packaged in a cardboard form to protect it from scratching which was really nice! It comes with plastic protectors as well. I suggest keeping them for storage. It comes with a care booklet as well. The pot is a good size for many different dishes.

I love my new Dutch Oven!

This is my go to pan for cooking anything. You can pan fry, deep fry, steam, saute, braise and bake with it.  It sits on my stove top and never gets put away because we use it every day.  The heat capability of the pan is amazing - heats up quickly and evenly. The black matte finish creates beautiful sear in any dish.  Use it on any cooking surface, including induction.  Every kitchen needs a 5.5 Staub cocotte especially in the beautiful French blue color.

I feel like a professional chef!  The cast iron body heats up evenly. The black textured interior browns and caramelizes beautifully. The under side of the lids have self basting spikes which circulate the moisture to keep food full of moisture and flavor. The beautiful colors and the heat retention make a perfect presentation on the table. Great for soups, chili, sauces and also roasting and baking bread.. One of many colors available in the Staub enameled cast iron collection. This cocotte provides optimal browning and caramelization thanks to the black matte enameled interior.  Spikes on the underside of lid provide continuous self-basting for moist, tender, flavorful results. The heat retaining capabilities keep contents warm for perfect oven to table presentation.

This pot is everything you would expect froma Staub cast iron. Exceptional craftsmanship and quality. The innovative black matte interior provides exceptional heat distribution and retention. This pan will stay a consistent temperature throughout the cooking time.The creative dimpled interior of the lid is designed to help with continuous moisture flow. Great stove to oven to table pan.
