I've had my Brother MFC-J6935DW for about a month. So far I am very pleased with it. It is fast! It is quiet. I do a lot with ledger sized paper and all features work well. I like it much more than the Brother J4710DW that I used previously. Well worth the money!

Overall, this printer is a good value considering the print/scan/copy/fax capabilities. I switched brands from HP to Brother, due to ink costs and other reasons. A set of ink cartridges for this printer is a little over $100, while the ink for the HP was over $400!
The setup was fast and easy, and it supports a variety of paper handling functions. I've read that some folks think the printing is fuzzy, but I'd have to guess that it has more to do with the quality of paper they are using.  Use good paper and you will get good results.  I print everything from text to graphics, and I am happy with the output.
I'm hoping Brother reliability and support are better than HP, but since I've only had the printer for about a month, I cannot offer comments on that.

I've gone through 3 Epson All-In-One printers...each lasting about 2 years. We work from home in real estate, so I am constantly printing, scanning, and emailing (and sometimes faxing) contracts. Determined NOT to buy another Epson printer, I found this Brother model listed in a 2018 "Best" list. It was about $100 more than what I'd been paying, but I was willing to invest more for a better product that would (hopefully!) last longer and claimed to save money on ink refills. 

So far I have been very pleased. My only complaint is that when I scan documents in I have to manually change them to portrait instead of landscape. There may be an easy fix to this, but I have not put much effort into seeing if that is so. Print quality is good, set-up was easy enough....so far, so good! I've yet to require ink refills, so I can not comment on cost of such, but I am just so thankful to have a printer that is "man enough" to do the job! This is my first Brother, and I have nothing but good things to say.

An In-Home Office MUST

Not Buying Brother Printers — And It's Not Because of the Bugs
Let me be upfront: my Brother MFC-J6935DW has been one of the best purchases I've ever made. Duplexing, tabloid-sized, dual full-size trays, networkable — it's been an absolute workhorse for over ten years and is still going strong. Five stars. Ten out of ten. No regrets.

So why am I done with Brother? Not because of the features, function, or price. But, because of what Brother chose not to do with it.

There are two small annoyances that have bugged me for years. And I mean small — we're probably talking a few lines of firmware code each. Here's what gets me:

Issue %231 — Maintenance jobs hijack your tabloid tray. Every maintenance routine — head cleaning, alignment, you name it — prints exclusively to Tray %231. That's fine, except Tray %231 is also the only place you can load 11x17” (tabloid) paper in bulk. So when the printer decides to run an alignment check, it burns a full 17-inch sheet to print a color bar barely an inch tall. You can't redirect it to Tray %232 (letter size) or the multi-purpose tray. A single prompt — "Which tray would you like to use?" — would solve this entirely.

Issue %232 — Empty tray? Hope you weren't storing anything important. When a tray runs out mid-job, the printer doesn't pause to ask what you'd like to do. It just quietly raids the multi-purpose tray. In my case, that tray holds expensive letterhead — kept loaded specifically so I can print the occasional letter without interrupting everything. I once sent a 90-page job with only 15 sheets in Tray %232. The other 75 pages? Pulled straight from the letterhead stack.

Like I said — minor issues. Fixable issues. Ten-years-ago fixable issues.

That's what I can't get past. Not the bugs themselves, but the decision — year after year — to leave them unaddressed. That's not a firmware problem. That's a management problem.

So, Brother: you make a genuinely great printer. Call me when someone upstairs decides to finish the job.

FANTASTIC printer... Except for the little things

I took one star off because of the software. Realistically I would say 4.5 stars. This printer has great print quality. Other printers with the same features are more expensive. Primary focus to purchase a new printer was the features and cost per page to print. This printer has met my expectations. Scan quality is really good. I primarily us it to scan documents and college related projects. File size for saved PDF scans are much smaller than my previous printer. The setup up for connection for wireless to a laptop or PC is a little frustrating, but so was my last printer. It seems like printer manufacturers don't put enough emphasis on software development. Luckily I have a decent working knowledge of computers to eventually overcome the software shortfalls. I have to keep looking for workarounds to get full benefits of the printer. For instance, my last printer (HP) had the capability to preview a scanned image. Using a mouse, one could crop the area of the scan and then scan it. There was no need to edit the final product. To achieve this in Adobe, I had to select "Native Mode". This was necessary because the original software only worked on Windows XP. The manufacturer did not adapt software to Windows 8 and above. There are products like VueScan that does this, but it has to be purchased separately. Even with the software shortfalls, I really like this printer. It is way overkill for what I need, but it is perfect for what I wanted.

I bought it about a month ago so far I'm pleased.

It does it all

Satisfied with the printer with respect to efficiency, features, reliability, and overall cost.  However, the color rendition is poor.  For example, our logo, which includes a teal color prints properly on other inkjet printer brands in our office and also on our laser color printer.  It is a faded blue color on the Brother MFC.  Other colors suffer the same inaccurate interpretation.

I have been completely unable to get my new MFC-J6935DW to keep its connection to my wifi. It connects and prints when I first turn it on - but if it is not in constant use it goes offline within 15 minutes or less. I also cannot get it to use the MP Tray. Very disappointing.

Disappointed

I am very disappointed with this printer.  It falls asleep and loses the wifi connection and cannot seem to wake itself up.  If you turn off the printer and turn it back on again all is OK.  Who wants to be doing this every few hours when the printer is in another location.  The only good thing about this printer is it has great printer cartridges which print an amazing number of pages.  This printer is good for printing and copying that's all.  Your software team should be embarrassed by this product!  How difficult could it be to sense the wifi is not connected and trigger a reconnect every minute or so until it connects?

Terrible for multi user or low tech environment

It did not performed as advertised,  I bought it to print 11x17 menu.
