Ease Of Installation

Latch

Requires two hands to close and may break over time.

Can be quick and tool-free, but also requires patience and technical skill.

I bought one and then immediately bought two more. These are BASIC and for this reason they are GOOD. There is no convoluted parts that are designed. It's so easy to open one handed and you get really good at it. No buttons, latches, etc. and it's metal, sturdy. And so easy to customize . Over time the latches springs break. Party due to little kids playing with them. That's one thing that could be improved. But proof that you don't want an over engineered design.

Great product

Very pleased

It's pretty good. Very long. The gate doesn't seem to do well opening beyond about 40 degrees either way from the hinge. Whilst that might be installer error, I was careful and it probably warrants a review mention. The installation templates for this (and all I think) baby gates are folded pieces of paper which are next to useless.

This gate is the second best I've found in North America so far. I would not buy another, as a competing product in another store wins hands down on function, ease of install and adaptability to overall length.

OK but there is better out there

Design and function are above average. This gate is certainly better than the one it replaced. I gave it three stars since one of the latch bolts came with a mis-cut thread.

Good but poor hardware

This gate works fine. It's a bit complex to install but possible. I came across a weird issue where, even though my stairway was within the specified range, it actually didn't fit because it was too wide on one setting and too thin on another. I was able to fix it with a shim, but I had to do more handiwork than I imagined

Bottom latch stays latched … what a silly design.

Silly design

The design is insanely poorly. There's no handle to latch like on every single other baby gate in existence. It's just a two bare bolts sticking out the top of bottom that latch on in a terribly designed latching system. It's not doable with one hand. The template for setting the was over an inch off between sides.  The worst part is that the hinges rely on j-shaped bolts that pull the hinges away. It would be very easy for a toddler, say, to be pulling on the gate and pull them loose. Safety issue.

Terrible design and poor manufacturing

Put it together for our newborns room. Was a challenge to build in the first place due to horrible build quality. Once I had it together, I closed it, it latched great. But it refused to unlatch without me manually pressing the bottom spring down. We have a similar gate I've installed before. Works the same way this one is supposed to. On this, the top hinge is supposed to have some flex so the latch end can lift. But it's fixed. This should be recalled and fixed. Wasted time and energy on a product that was designed to fail. Don't waste money on this product.
