the plate does not heat up at all well and slows down the cooking time

Salton Cooktop

I bought this as a replacement for an old 2 burner hot plate that was well over 10 years old. It still worked, but through a surface refurbish attempt, rendered it unusable. I have now had this hot plate for approximately 1 year. It's already starting to give me problems. The left burner dial will click, indicating the internal thermostat has turned on, and the light will come on, meaning the burner should be heating (light turns off when it's reached temp), and yet I check several minutes later and it's basically warm. I can put my hand on it. If I turn the burner off and back on it works correctly. This tells me the thermostat is already starting to fail. After a year. It's a shame because this plate is nice and big, with room to place 2 full sized pots on it, where as most don't. Very disappointed. Maybe it's a faulty unit but it's far too late to return.

Disposable

Burners work well but it is very difficult to clean. To clean beneath the burners, you must first use a screwdriver to access the area. Even then you can't lift the burner coils far enough up to clean the drip pans. In order to lift the burners enough to clean under them is to remove the bottom of the double burner unit and detach the electrical wires as well.

Not worth the trouble
