After going from the S10 to the S21 Ultra my tastes changed. It was the top level android device. I decided to upgrade this year to the S23 Ultra, and can confirm this is still the best of the best in all categories. Faster 45W Charging, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Samsung, Ddr5X ram, UFS 4.0 storage, 5 camera set up with 200mp main sensor, and the SPen! Along with the minor upgrades like a more squared off design that feels great on the sides, a smoother flat screen, and a big one for me improved speaker performance.. you actually notice some low end now. 

It's the perfect phone for 2023. Enough said.

Was it a necessary upgrade from the S21 Ultra? No it wasn't. But if you are someone with a 20 Ultra or someone with a 21 Ultra, and you really want the SPen this is the best option. These phones are made very well these days, and even at the 20 Ultra I could see myself holding out. If you have been thinking about upgrading, or just want to lock in your 4 years of security updates like I did, this is a perfect phone. There is nothing to complain about.

i buy samsung phones for two reasons, theyre usually top tier in hardware, but they also have the one UI versatility that i feel is probably criminally underused by the general populace of samsung owners. it mostly replaces the desktop experience for non gaming applications. i really have nothing bad to say about this phone

one ui wins again

The S23 Ultra is the latest Samsung phone that has it all. Not that the previous models were bad; they were extremely good. However, they usually lacked at least one essential feature. This year, though, that's not the case because the Galaxy S23 Ultra 5Gangta Alpha Omega Supreme, also known as Galactus, is outstandingly good. From its gorgeous design to the nearly symmetrical bezels and One UI 5.1, this phone delivers day after day. The specs are up-to-date, and nothing is missing. The battery life is on a whole new level. As for performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy is extremely well optimized, and together with One UI, it ensures silky smooth animations that are truly beautiful.

However, there are still some minor issues. For example, some first-party and second-party apps have minor bugs. The Samsung Health app, for instance, has bugs in the water section where it may indicate 12 glasses of water, but the graph shows only 3. Unfortunately, you can't change it without making the issue worse. Additionally, the AR Emoji feature has some visual problems. When downloading AR templates for your avatar, the icons look squished and weird. Similarly, when updating your template, the options appear blank, requiring you to guess the buttons that, even when pressed, don't load. This AR Emoji issue even extends to Google Meet (Duo), where putting on AR Emoji masks doesn't properly follow your reactions or movements. It's worth noting that these AR Emoji issues are specific to this device, as I've checked on a Galaxy Z Fold2, and the issues are not present there. However, I'm confident that future updates will address these minor first-world issues.

Amazing phone

I bought this phone two months ago and I happy I did.

Very fast operating system,great camera.

I seem to be having a issue with the focusing on close ups. And actually things that are further away, say like a bird...

Camera issues

The screen lasted a month. This is the 5th samsung I've bought and the 1st where the screen wouldn't hold up to normal use. The glass is heralded as the strongest yet but in my case that has been unfounded. Will think carefully about spending this amount of money on this brand again.

Poor reliability

I traded in my Samsung galaxy s9 + mint condition, and it shipped with a case and was packaged with protection, it shipped through FedEx it arrived to them on the 16th of February. After 13 days they emailed me that my device was damaged when it was fully functional and nothing was wrong with it. They adjusted my trade-in price. Others have had the same experience with this, please take pictures before trading in or trade-in with someone else like best buy. For now, I am waiting for their reply they gave me a ticket and said they had taken the case to higher-ups, and they will email me or call me, I will update how long it takes for them to get back to me. This is totally unacceptable. I request you do not trade in with Samsung because they've done this numerous times with other customers.

Horrible trade in experience

I purchased the phone when it was first launched on Feb 8. Being an avid Samsung fan, I was so excited to have the phone that I was sure I'd fall in love with. The phone worked perfectly fine for the first 3 weeks. I loved it! Then all of a sudden, the face recognition stopped working and when I tried to reset it in the settings, the camera for face ID turned black. So I brought the phone to the Samsung store, the technicians took a look and it seemed after a reboot, the problem fixed itself. I brought the device home and not even 2 hours after I had left the store, the problem occurred again. So I brought it back to the store, this time, same thing happened, the problem went away after rebooting. They told me it must be a 3rd party app that is interfering with the face ID, and that I needed to delete all of the unnecessary apps that I didn't use, because they were not sure which app was causing the problem 😑. So I went through each of my app and deleted the ones I didn't use like they said. They also told me I might have to reset my phone to default settings if the problem kept happening. I brought it home and the problem insisted. Now I'm exhausted and frustrated! All of the Samsung devices I'd had were working perfectly fine with all the apps I installed. The technicians can't do anything to fix it because they themselves are not even sure which app is causing the problem, so the only thing to do is to wipe my phone clean, which is really time consuming and redundant, because I'd end up installing the same apps anyway since they are neccessary in my daily life. Now, everytime the problem occurs, I'd have to restart my phone, and it'd only work perfectly for an hour or 2 after rebooting. I've been a Samsung user since 2010, this is the first time I feel so disappointed 😞! I don't even know what to do with the phone now, I paid a lot of money for something that doesn't work properly, that even Samsung technicians can't fix.

Had it for two days rill the screen broke with a tempered glass protector dropped it maybe 3 inches and it spider cracked all across the screen
